Just an idea, if you do not have a correct size plug to cap off the one nipple off the intake manifold, use the one-way check valve on the long line you remove (goes from stock air box to intake manifold). Make sure you face it in the correct direction so that the engine can not suck air in from it. I just installed my short-ram and did this, works.

i drilled smaller holes around the stock opening and used my dremel to cut them out...then smoothened the edges out with the grinding attachments (if that's what thy're called)...either way, the edges were smoothened out and i applied the gasket material around the pipe. i also pryed (bent/angled, whatever) the lip near the strut tower area down and pryed the lip toward the front of the car up a little to better accomodate the angle of the pipe...hope i explained that clear enough...

I have searched a ton and still have no absolute answer. Should you hook up the rear vaccum line to the intake tube if you have a nipple for it? I capped the third one like it says in the DIY but no foam filter so the back on is just hanging there and my new intake has a nipple so should I connect it to it or not??1991 Black Accord Coupe

Rear Vacuum Line?
Do you mean the one that runs from the air boost valve, through the thin, gray plastic tube? The one thats supposed to have foam inserted?
If thats the one you mean, I don't think its supposed to hook into the intake. I think its meant to breath open atmosphere, versus the intake which is a vacuum.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Yeah the one with that is supposed to have the foam fillter in it. Should i attach the one thats capped to the intake tube or just leave it alone? I just dont want anytime of vaccum leak.1991 Black Accord Coupe

i did my CAI when i was at car audio school in AZ. i had a lil bit of guidance but none of us had ever done it before. mine came out reaaaaaally clean, except for a few scratches on my intake (which i didnt do). ill post some pics of what i did to my hole i cut, i used an airsaw (the best tool for the applicatoin) mine looks very clean and proffessionally done, i used the window trim like mentioned before, its the best solution. i also put a bypass valve on ($40 bucks seriously outweighs the cost of repairing a engine full of water) which meant i had to cut my tubing in 1/2. ive got a few pics of my intake on my cardomain page, but ill take a few of the hole as soon as i can.Last edited by UrDoneSRH; 08-11-2006, 08:24 PM.

Remove the (2) vacuum lines, electrical connector, and vacuum box
For this picture, When you unplug the electrical connector, do you just leave it dangling? b/c right now, I still have that vacuum box with the wires connected just in a loop around the box and the connector is plugged into the box. So should i just unplug it and leave it dangling?

yeah i've got a AEM 3" prelude intake as well, to go w/ my H23 TB/Plenum. I just had that stupid box in the way and was unsure whether or not to unplug that connector. I did, and it made no difference at all. At least I have more space now.
I like how it barely clears everything lol, but it worked!

There is a noticeable diff. in the upper RPM's in sound and power since this pipe is 3" vs 2.5" for the accord intake.
really had to tighten that coupler down tight for it holdwat?
