I just put a prelude CAI in my 93 accord. What did u guys do w/ your batteries? I barely have room for it, half is perched on the A/C lines and the other half is resting on the fender. I dont think it'll go anywhere, but I'm just wondering what you guys did.

      mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... DOHC

I originally thought that was going to be a problem but when I installed mine, it wasn't at all.... the battery & tray completely clears the intake tube.

I used the AEM Prelude CAI... I just shifted the battery around alittle and it fit perfectly. I didn't use the little bushing they gave me though... the "failure to use this part will void any warranty" part...

i have a 90 accord lx. i have a short in take. i installed mine with no directions. i just took the factory out and and put the new one in andhooked the hoses back up. i did not plug any tubes or shove any foam no where. BUT! i could barely make it up an interstate ramp to the high way. i also had no accelleration at a light. my idle was ok. do u all think if i took that box off and plugged that hose it woul work ok. if someone has put a short air in a lx let me know, or has some one followed these directions before. please let me know.

damn, im about to put a short ram on mine.

see, one of the hoses is for a solenoid(right by the battery) that opens and closes a valve based on engine rpm above 3.5k meant to quite the engine sound. ill look in my haines and report back.

What i did to control the idle better since i installed the a CAI was to take a small air filter on the box and taped it to the line.

What steps are not necessary when doing this same DIY on an LX trim CB7? What tools do u recommend in cutting the hole into the fenderwell for the piping?

Cutting the hole is a bitch. I'm still embarrassed of mine. My friend (who at the time I though knew more about cars than me... wrong!) used a dremel, and we went through a bunch of metal cutting blades while making a crappy looking ragged hole. We eventually resorted to some monster tin snips that his dad had in the garage. They worked well, but you could cut an arm off with the jaggedless of the hole! I used electrical tape to temporarily pad the edges... which has become a permanent fix, apparently. Using some sort of rubber or tight foam hose to line the edges of the hole is a good idea.

WOW... That's EXACTLY what I did... I read it and wondered if someone had been with me when I did it. I went through all the cutting blades I had on the dremmel, then went to these tin snip things that are really probably supposed to be for pruning bushes... what a ragged mess. Glad it's not visible from anywhere... You used tape, i actually just rolled the edges down, kinda like peeling a banana... it worked... sorta....

Yeah, I actually did some rolling as well. My friend had to get to work, so it became a rush job. Of course, I'm one of those people that never messes with something as long as it works well enough

I need to fix that somehow...

This is really sad, I didn't have a dremel but a ended up with bush pruners and a pair of vice grips and peeled the metal back. Then I took a short vacuum hose and wrapped it around the intake where it touches the car, wrapped the hose with duct tape to make sure it stays on, and voila ghetto +2 but done.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

So there's no clean method of installing a CAI? If i take it to a shop, would they do a cleaner install?
