After engine mods, you want to reset your ECU to take advantage of the new mods. Also if you need to get rid of the check engine light (CEL) after solving recent engine errors then you need to reset the ECU. There's a few ways to do that
1. Start the car and let it warm up
2. Turn the car off
3. Pull the ECU fuse under the hood
4. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes
5. Start the car again and let it idle for 5 minutes (don't be pressing the gas or listening to the stereo or anything)
6. Turn the car off
7. Start it back up and have fun driving.
Or, you can disconnect the Positive cable on the battery and that will reset it, but that means you have to reset the dash clock, your radio station presets and anything else that relied on the battery power to store information.
Or you can leave the ECU alone and it will slowly adjust and re-map itself over 6 months or so.
