    ENG: ECU Resetting Instructions

After engine mods, you want to reset your ECU to take advantage of the new mods. Also if you need to get rid of the check engine light (CEL) after solving recent engine errors then you need to reset the ECU. There's a few ways to do that

    1. Start the car and let it warm up
    2. Turn the car off
    3. Pull the ECU fuse under the hood
    4. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes
    5. Start the car again and let it idle for 5 minutes (don't be pressing the gas or listening to the stereo or anything)
    6. Turn the car off
    7. Start it back up and have fun driving.

Or, you can disconnect the Positive cable on the battery and that will reset it, but that means you have to reset the dash clock, your radio station presets and anything else that relied on the battery power to store information.

Or you can leave the ECU alone and it will slowly adjust and re-map itself over 6 months or so.

    My Accord History:

If i reseted the ecu, will it damaged other program? can i use the sport drive after reseted the ecu? why positive battery cable, not negative? My car used up quite alot of fuel than my other accord in short distance, no need to say for long distance is it possible that something wrong with the ecu or other stuff? The fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail other parts that related with fuel are in good condition. Does ecu controls the fuel rail system? Thank you. Sorry for my bad english..

All our cars here are being cut-off, i mean the horses.. so our engines are being standard tuned, which means, we dont have the full power of the engine, if i want to remove the cut-off, can it be done by resetting the ecu?

so that the next time u start it up the engine will be at normal temp, therefore the ecu is programing itself for a normal temp engine.

Btw- do u reset the ecu with urber??

Great achievements result from great effort

No sir. You can either use the ecu from an EX model US and run a chipped ecu with uber or chrome.

When I reset my ecu , I just pull the fuse, wait 15 seconds and plug the fuse back in.

The way I have always done it is. Pull fuse for 10min or so, then disconect BOTH battery terminals. Take the terminals touch them for 60seconds then reconnect and put fuse back in. Start car and let sit at IDLE(dont touch the throttle) until fully warmed up you will know this when your cooling fans kick on. Get in your car and run hard through couple gears.
                    But that just me
