I'd use pipe plugs instead, prolly seal better.

So my 90 EX - F22a4 has bosses instead of OEM plugs for these EGR ports?

I haven't bothered to take a look. This could be something else to add to my cam timing project list....ugh

well i got one plug out and cleaned some what i am going to finish next week... most my time (2hours) were spend clearing space in the engine bay and getting the right sized drill bit and extractor.... and a tip: make sure you have a magnet close incase you drill to get the shards away and out of the port....

What type of difference would you notice when you clean it?

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

all i used was a $7 slide hammer and a screw to pull my pluggs out and its easy. you can find the slide hammer at any home depot or automotive store. i dont know why people dread doing this so much i actually enjoy it. its just time consuming not hard at all. if its done right you should have no problems at all.i have done 5 jobs already and have taking no longer than 1 hour 45 mins on each.and everytime has been a successs...........plus money in my pocket.

yeah it clears out those ports.

i forgot when or how but the exaust is re routed back into the intake manifold...through those ports....

if the ports are clogged then you loose power etc. oh and u wont pass smog.

Its rerouted through the EGR or exhaust gas recirculation unit. The EGR was designed to lower the combustion temperatures by recirculating exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber.
