    ENG: Replacing Clutch Release/Slave Cylinder

    DYI- Clutch Release/ Slave Cylinder Removal Replacement.

    Hello everyone seeing how I just did this and it's fresh in my head I figured I'd write up for you all. My apologies The only picture I could provide has been attached.

    Advice-
    1. Raise the front end a little to take some stress of your back from bending over.
    2. Remove the radiator or atleast the fans to create more working space.

    Required tools
    1. 9mm flare nut wrench - you know the ones with one open end and one closed end will work also.
    2. 13mm ratchet
    3. Small can and some rags to catch and wipe fluid.

    Procedure-
    1. Disconnect the fluid hose at the top the release/ slave cylinder. This will cause all your clutch fluid to run out so be prepared to catch it. This is were you want to be careful not to strip the nut.

    2. Remove the two 13mm retaining bolts from the bottom.
    3. Remove the cylinder.

    Simple enough right.

    Installation is a bit harder because of the push rod.

    1. Install the cylinder on the clutch housing but don't completely tighten the bolts.
    2. Seat the push rod in the release fork pocket.- I actually did this before attempting to insert the bolts. (Bad Idea)
    3. Connect the metal hydraulic line.
    4. Fill the master cylinder resevior
    5. Bleed the system. (Just like bleeding brakes)

    You'll know your good when you have pressure. Becareful and keep an eye on the resevior; if it empties you'll have to start the bleeding process all over again.

    Please feel free to add in if I have missed anything.

      Mine went out on me.. slowly was leaking fluid until it got to the point where I had to add fluid everyday, then I replaced it. Pretty easy to do.
