    Power Seats DIY

NOTE: This is a current work in progress. After completion, this may help others who want to incorporate Acura Legend, Acura CL, Acura TL, Acura RL or similar power electric seats into a CB7. This is not a complete DIY yet!

Well my past car had OEM Black leather seats from a 91 SE however the front seats didn't make it to my new CB7 since Glass and debris ripped and punched holes into them. I always liked how the JDM CB7 seats were electric powered and thought about importing just the side buttons and bottom externals to mod the existing seats....but that idea flew out the window real fast.

I then came across some black Acura RL seats!!! Unfortunately the wiring harness was incomplete and I don't have the B plugs to match the A plugs already on the seats. I've been doing some research and noticed that good o' honda loves to recycle and reuse their existing parts and throwing them onto similar models. The adjusting switches on the Acura RL seats are nearly identical to the later gen Acura Legend seats. The structure of the electric motors and even the harness almost looks identical (so far) except for the additional harnesses for the integrated side airbags.

The messy harness nightmare i'm trying to figure out....

First I need to identify what wires do what...but in the mean time I think I singled out the side airbag wiring since its not existent on the Legend Seat harness.

Didn't get these from the junkyard....got these from a private seller. The dude had a new RL and then wrecked it about 8months later.... He bought the car back from insurance i'm assuming and slang off most of the parts except for his seats and rims. It was taking alot of room in his garage at his new house and he also has the backseats somewhere too which I hope I can get later....

The pick n' pull near my house on occasion lately has been getting some new cars ever so randomly! Some of the newer cars i've in the past 3months were DC2 integras, two 98 Accord Sedans, 98up Mitsubishi Galants, 3 300ZX turbos (not sure what year but before they changed to the current bodystyle completely like mid 90+. Somebody got lucky at the Rancho Cordova pick n' pull coz there was a 03 Accord sedan chillin there stripped to hell. That one I've spotted 2 black SE accords.... I started to pull stuff off it but decided not to get the items coz I have too much stuff at the house as is and thought I'd give someone else a chance. I posted about it like earlier last year in the off-topic section.

I'm going to post pictures soon of my work so far on my day off. The harness is going to be a bitch to rig up. I tried to cut off the sections of the Legend harness as close as it got from the seat to the main big harness that goes from the trunk all the way under the dash for extra slack. I think I have to make some kind of adapter harness with a inline fuse coz I don't want to mess around tappin power with my main harness just in case something fucks up and shorts something permanently. On my last CB7, I made a custom harness that powered my fogs and pole and it used power from the unused 194 socket for the headlight signal.

I tried to clean up the wiring and used solder instead of T-taps...but I ran out of the same color 16gauge wire so I used the same color instead. I wasn't paying attention and soldered the wrong wire together....tested the lamp and even though I had a inline fuse, it wasn't the right rating obviously coz it popped and still damaged something afterwards. I never had a alternating signal on the drivers side and I just had to use the constant on lamp only.
