    Cb7tuner Down!

OK guys this just happened to 3 hours ago. I started my car and moved it no more then 5 feet and the car just stopped out of the blue. Tried to crank it and it cranks but won't start. I changed the starter, distributer, spark plugs, wires, even redid the the valve cover gasket because there was a trickle of oil in the sparkplug chamber. What do you think could be the problem and thanks ahead of time.

FYI...I am getting spark and i can hear the fuel pump sending fuel.

Check the ECU fuse. It could be the alternator, but check other the small stuff first.

alternator was replaced with in the past year.....Yeah it cranks but won't turn over...Do you think it could be the ignition module??? Thats really the only other thing that i can think of.

check your grounds. especially the pesky t-stat ground. Seems to be a common problem for no starts. lets us know.

If it cranks, the alternator's not the problem. An alternator could be completely dead, but if there's enough juice in the battery to crank the engine, the car will start.

If it's not even cranking now, your battery is probably dead from trying to crank it. Put it on a charger.

Check if the battery is good but it still doesn't crank check your ignition switch. There was a problem kinda like that on 99/00 ludes.

Just to point out why some of others people diagnosis wont work:

                          1. Cranks but no start says the starter is good.
                          2. He hears the fuel pump priming not a main relay issue (unless he is hearing things.)
                          3. Alternator going out would lbe a noticeable symptom with the battery coming on to signal low voltage.
                          4. Battery should be good if he can crank the motor. If he couldnt crank that wouldnt have been a bad thing to check but in this case it works so its out of question.

It could be your ignition switch as mentioned if you are for sure you are gettin spark/fuel. How does the spark look does it look strong?

EDIT: were there any other symptoms or did it just abnormally cut off? Grounds wouldnt be a bad thing to check as mentioned also.

Are you sure you're hearing the fuel pump, and not the antenna motor? (don't laugh... I've known a few people to make that mistake!)

I would definitely replace your igniter and ignition coil. Junkyard parts are cheap, and if you pick up two of each (should cost like $20 total, if you can't just pocket em) you should get enough working parts to make it start... if that's the problem. If the igniter and/or coil fixes the problem, just go buy a new one.

But to the guy who made the thread: Is there any CEL? or it could be the Ignitor as mentioned.
