    Anyone good with fuel pumps

I'm not sure if the fuel pump is still good or not, I think the problem might be in the wiring since I had to remove an aftermarket alarm in the process of fixing it. I pulled a fuel pump from a junkyard and connected it to the harness in the trunk. However, with the key in the On position and while attempting to start, I can't get the pump to activate. I've even tried connecting it directly to the battery and nothing happened but sparks. My questions are:

    1. Is there a way to hotwire the fuel pump in my tank to test it?

    2. Are there any other honda fuel pumps that work with our cars

    3. Any tips on dropping my tank and installation

    Thanks for your time

When you turn the key to the on position do you hear it prime up? If you have a Haynes manual go to page 4-3 on how to test it, if you dont have one then i iwll type it down for you. But it is to test the one that is still in your car. When my pump went out i upgraded to a walbro 255 pump. They are only $100 or so. It is a bitch to change though. Just run the car low on gas. The hard part is puting it back in, you will need an extra jack or two to remove the slack from the strap while while you hold the tank and bolt it up to the chassis. If you need any moe info if you dont have the manual i will be glad to help you out.

      Thanks for replying

One out of 26 aint bad.

I'd be intrested to see what the manual says, the one I have, the one anyone can get from Icelord, says I have to jump the main relay harness but then test for power at the pump itself instead of at the pump harness where you'd think the power would be. I guess the pump grounds itself?

Thanks for suggesting the walbro I might go with that, are you sure it's not too much pump? I was even thinking of just cheating and installing an external one.

Yea I know it's going to be a bitch, I have a jack ready, would you reccomend removing all the lines attached to the tank before or after it is lowered?

      Thanks again

I tried to keep the lines attached to the tank but it just wasnt happening because you have to manuever the pump a certain way to get it out and it will be a pain in the ass, i ended up disconeting the lines from the tank so i can slide the tank out from underneath the car. And i ended up using two jacks and a jack stand to put it back up. I dont think it will be to much but i did it because i will need one in the future, so i just got it out the way now. But walbro also makes a 195 or something like that pump as well. But i had this walbro for about 5 months now and have had no problems.

If your planning on doin performance later 255 is a good pump too. I have a venom 255. Yeah gettin that bad boy in there is a pain in the ass too. Take the tank out from underneath having all that grit and dirt jsut fallin. You have to relieve the pressure in the system too. Detaching the lines in there isnt so bad but it can be a pain. Reversal of removal is even better than all the take apart stuff. Just make sure you dont break the steel lines at the bottom.

Thanks for the advise, yea I broke out the multimeter and testing it my way instead of haynes way and found my wires to be good. So now I'm starting to drain gas from the tank now. I think I want to just remove the tank from under the car completly too.

I dont really think I'll try anything performance other than and intake. Are there any honda pumps that would be a slight upgrade?

It wont matter for the price that these stores ask for you can get a performance one for the same price id do it just incase you change your mind youll have enough fuel instead of not enough when you hit the gas. The pump wont pump that much unless you floor it hard and when it needs it on delevery youll have it.

I wouldnt even by a used fuel pump because people who run there tanks low will go through a pump faster than those who wouldnt and you dont know what the other guy did with it. Plus im pretty sure you wouldnt want to do it again. I am not sure about putting other honda pumps into an accord because accord tanks are 17 gallons and pratically every thing else is 13 gallons. Other than that i think it may work.

dropping the tank sucks!! my father-in-law had an 89 accord and we accessed his fuel pump from under the rear seat.. I wish my cb7 was like that, it was so easy.. Oh well, like they say no pain no gain..

                      Just an update

Actually, dropping the tank wasnt as bad as I thought, maybe it's because I prepared myself for the worse. However, after dropping the tank I discovered that the tank looked a bit rusty so Im thinking about replacing the tank as well.

This is just to my untrained eye, so I could be wrong. And now that I think about is the color of the gas was a orange color is gas suppost to be orange? I called around and for 100 bucks I can get the tank with pump and sending unit still attached.

Here are some pics if they work:
Here's a look inside the tank

                      Should gas be that color?

Here is where the tank was

i must apoligize to all the 56kers out there I know the pics are big I feel your ppain.
