    Im Stumped

Last night i was taking some pics with PR CB7 and my oil light came on...I was like huh because i checked my oil level the other day and it was fine..now my oil level was mad low.
I purchased a few quarts and i thought everything was fine until my drive home..the car bogged a bit then the oil light came on and it just shut off..Im like wtf..I waited a bit, put a little more oil and then started once more..after that i got home fine.Theres no knocking what so ever..
Today it started again with the same problems on my way home from work. I have no oil leaks at all so thats why im very puzzled...Need help guys.

You have no oil leaks but it consumes oil? Thats wierd if you dont have any visible leaks you know of or can see then your best bet is that its getting burned somewhere in the combustion chamber. This is done via valve seal, piston ring etc. You check your sending unit to make sure its not loose? If your oil level was full i would think maybe something dealing with the pump but you never know. I would check the sending unit first since that could be it.

If you have no obvious leaks, then I'd have to say that it's either Valve seals or completely destroyed piston rings. Your oil plug is still there, right? That happened to my sister.

Neither of those kinds of things are easily visible. You'd have to disassemble the motor to check them.

once your car dies from an oil light more than likely there is damages. On the other hand however it may just be a seal or a ring a shop can tell you.

did you at any point check to see how low it was before filling it with oil? when its at the bottom dot, it's only 1/4 low.

Hey, I was thinking... if you did a compression test (you can get a gauge at parts stores for cheap) you'd be able to tell if your rings/valve seals were bad.

It sounds to me like you're losing at least a couple quarts a day? Dude, it's gotta be going somewhere. If it's ring and seal leaks, the amount you're talking about would completely kill the engine. That kind of internal leakage should be dribbling out of the tailpipe by now. I can't even imagine you wouldn't notice the smoke from it. have you made sure you're not leaking? Gotta be a puddle somewhere big enough to kill a baby seal, you know?

The thing is it doesnt smoke at all and theres no leaks...could it be the temp. outside ...the reason i asked is that the last coupe mths or so its been cold outside...Could that increase oil consumption.

Really, you shouldn't have any noticeable oil consumption anyways, unless you go really long between oil changes. Especially not in the 1 quart a week range. That implies a problem.

Maybe you could have someone put their hand near the tailpipe and see if it comes away oily after you rev it a couple of times? A couple of quarts a day aren't just hiding in there somewhere. Maybe it's a leak in the rear of the engine somewhere, so it only leaks when you accelerate. Hell, I don't know. Try taking off a few times from a stop and then look behind you for a trail?
