    motor good or bad.

    random i know but.....

a friend of mine took the top part of his intake manifold off and didn't think about it and left it out in the rain with water going into the intake and sitting their... how much damage you reckon this caused? i am sure his valves are rusted, do you think the bottom short block is also rusted?

Chances are theres a little bit of rust down in it just pour a capfull into the cylinders before you start it inside the intake manifold and crank it by hand with a wrench to let the oil work in slowly and not all quick by just starting the engine up and the rust shold cure off.

if there is lots of water inside the cylinders just take the spark plugs out and turn the motor over. if there's water in there, it will shoot out. later.

Soak your pistons overnight in Seafoam, with the manifold back on, This will remove any CARBON build up, as well as loosen the rust, take out the plugs in the morning, and turn it over if you can manually, slowly.. try and get as much of the seafoam out as you can, once its all out, (or a good chunk of it) turn it over, It should be fine.) I did this once before without any issues happening afterwards.. i did nearly the same thing -.-

Dry it to the best of your ability and get some wd40 of some sort in there. Should work after that. But yea. Main thing is get everything as dry as possible before starting anything up. IM guessing he just had the head out unless he left the whole motor out.

thanks for all the advice, naw the motor and all was still in his hoodless car. and he removed the upper intake in further notice to remove the rest, he just never did, it prolly sat their 3 months, and everytime it rained the water could have went into the runners.
