    H22 water pump change-TIPS

OK I am changing the water pump on my H22 and I have read the sticky for the SOHC, but wanted to know any tips for the H22. I will probably use the crank holding tool instead of an impact gun to break that bolt off. Anymore tips? Oh, I was going to record how tight the timing belt was with my digital camera, but what is a good reference of tightness for the belt?

If there's more than 1/2" of play on the front side of the belt, it's too loose. IMO anyways.

If you haven't replaced the timing belt, do it.

thanks D112, that is the crazy part, when I took the valve cover off and looked at the timing belt, it looked brand new, not just alright, but brand new. When you say front side of belt which side is that?

The side nearest the front of the engine.

I would never go by "it looks new". Trust me.

LOL, I got you. I test the slack the same way as the Accesory belts, correct?I am kinda hesitant about doing this myself, but I have yet to drive this car on the streets and I did the fool swap myself so, I might as well just add this to my resume of DIY stuff thanks
