    what rpms are you running at 70mph

    70 mph is typically what speed i drive at on the highway, and i have a 93 ex auto f22a6, what does your guys auto's run rpms at 70 mph, i am running about 3.5, is that normal, or do i need to replace something, like a tps sensor

    depends mainly on what tranny you're running...

    i'm running an MP1A (info on sticky) and it's not goin in over-drive so at 70mph i'm usually around the 3k mark (give or take a bit)

    you might wanna take another look at your rpms while doin that speed... 3.5k at 70mph on a stock F tranny is mad high

        Are you in 4th gear and is your torque converter locking at that speed?

        What's your tire size?

        You should be right under 3k with your engines stock transmission.

                auto...thats why ( high )....in 5th gear ( cruising @70 )...im sitting at 2800 rpms ( saves fuel )

                65mph..im at 2650...

                I try my best NOT to exceed 3K ( conserving fuel )

                I found out long ago ...my car drinks the fuel faster if it gets over 2500 rpms...so I have been driving like an old person here lately. * price of fuel up my way is $3.35

                ^ I have tested my car ( going through 3 tanks of fuel )...and cruising at around 2-2600 rpms..FOR ME...saves fuel...rather than going over the speed limit and having my fuel mileage be LESS efficient.

                NOTE: my foot went on a diet...it used to have alot of LEAD in it...now that my foot went on a diet..its UNLEADED.
                92 LX. A6 with GUDE bullfrog Cam. M2S4 transmission..Gutted H23 intake mani. The rest you will just have to find out!

                  When you guys list your speed/rmp, you also need to list your tire size. It has a big effect on your speedo.

                  This is what you should be at with this tire size

                  4th gear 195/60 R15
                  70mph = 2806 rpm
                  80mph = 3207 rpm

                  I think your guy's torque converters aren't locking.

                  After you hit 4th gear, does the rpm drop again?

                    i got you guys all beat

                    im idling at 5000 RPM In PARK.
                    I had it towed to a garage. i gave up scrathing my head. the brakes could no longer stop the car.

                    so hopefully they can fix it.

                        I'm auto as well, but I sit around 3300-3500 at 80mph. Torque converter is locking up, because I get a small RPM drop about 5 seconds after I shift into 4th.

                        I'm on 185/70R14's

                          This is correct. If you were going 70mph, you'd be under 3k rpm.

                            70= 3.2k give or take a few notches
                            80= 3.5k

                            and mine does go into overdrive.
