Misshifted about a month ago.. questions.

Well I was driving one day and was being a dick and misshifted into 2nd. Yeah who does that? anyways, that aside, the engine did not shut off or any of that other stuff as other people on here posted. I caught it quick and kicked the clutch in, it probably revved up to 7k (f22b1) but might have been higher since I kicked the clutch in. Either way I didn't notice any sounds. When I came to a park I notice a slight ticking sound. I popped the hood, listened by the head, it wasn't prominent there. So I lowered myself by the driverside wheel and noticed it a bit louder.

Now, my CB7 had a bent rod and I knew what that sounded like, it was noticeable in the car and outside the car.

However this is a tick, not a knock.

Tommorow I will be doing a compression test to see if something could be wrong. However, I just wanted to know if anyone thinks it has anything to do with the bottom end.. Right now my car is already low on oil so next week I will be changing the oil (because my oil pan gasket will be in, in the middle of next week so i will wait). Either way I just wanted to know what anyone thinks, and if you think I should continue AutoX'n this car. It is my Daily driver. I don't want to swap motors right now because I'm trying to build a motor on the side. I know that this is for 4th gens but I loved this community when I owned a CB7 for being so informative and helpful that I can't help but stick with it. I appreciate any help given. cb7tuner > hondasociety

If its ticking then its valvetrain. Knocking is a pretty obvious sound. I have taken my h22a up to 9200 with a mis shift. Kicked the clutch in immediately all I had was slightly louder valve noise but that was because I was paranoid. I havent comp tested it yet but it still seems to run strong. I would say comp test it. Sounds like you should be fine if the engine sounds normal. Hondas have a notorious valve tick stock.

Stock F22ax motors with valvetrain in good working order can handle 7000 rpm no problem. I've taken my red project to 7500 before, I haven't had any issues. I would be more worried about not providing your engine with enough oil while revving it up like this. I always keep an eye on my fluids and only push the car when I know all is fine (which it is because I make sure it is).
