ignition coil....no start

    ignition coil....no start

    well car dont start,getting fuel,its turning over but no spark,what does the ignition coil look like so i can test it,does it have the positive + and negative - signs on it oris that something else i have aq 91 so its internal butr were is it in the dits? is it the rdctangle pice with the signs or is itsomething else need to know asap thans.

    i believe the part is called the Ignitor. I had to replace mine about a year ago.

      Take the plug wires off and remove the 3-4 screws (#5) holding the black plastic distributor cap on...then there is a rotor the holds down a plastic looking cover (#9), take a screw driver and pry (GENTLY) it off. The remove the 2 brass screws (#20) holding the ignition coil in the dizzy cap.

      Unscrew the 2 wires leading to the coil (#18 and 13) and pull out your ignition coil (#16). To test to see if the coil is good/bad get out a voltometer and I don't remember the resistance but check between the positive and negative posts (where the 2 screws went) and also between the positive and the coil.

      That is the best way to describe it. If you look in your chiltons it will also give you a step by step along with ohm readings

        ya my car was ideling and itjust died,it turns over strong but no startmi am going to the junkyard tommorrow to get one with low mileage.thanks.thats all it could be because its getting fuel,but no spark.thanks

            ya i think it is the coil,still no spark i will get one from a junkyard for $5 but it beats paying $75 for a new one,and if it dont work i getanoither used one.but ,my firend did the same thing andhas been driving on a used one for 3 yrs.
