    random miss / random die

For a week now out of knowwhere, my car started to miss..' but only going a steady 50 mph or 60 mph.

the miss consisted of while driving at the steady speed it would just almost seem like a quick 1 sec hesistate than a miss but watching the rpm's the did not move up or down.

this occured for about a week

last night going down my street to my house it did this twice at 20 mph and everything seemd to shut off twice for a milasecond, like my car died and came back on instantly with no jerking whatsoever ..

The only cel light i have is the egr light i have always had.
But this has never caused anything like this ever so i do believe the egr is not my problem.

it is something else but i have no clue as to what .

unless my dizzy is going out..which may be.... i dunno.

Sounds like my favorite answer...water in the gas. Not always it, but I always like to rule it out buy dumping a bottle or two of isopropyl alcohol water remover/dry-gas and filling up.

Normally when I hear about the distributor dying, people always mention they lose the tach when the problem occurs. Which makes sense. I wouldn't guess it that, yet.

I had the same thing were it would progressively get worse, till it died in an intersection and I had to rev the crap out of it to keep it going for the next mile.
It just this split second you feel the engine lose power and just as instantly its fine. A couple tanks and few bottles of dry gas latter and it was fine.

I have the same problem when car it cold or at idle as I pull off. I think it is my dizzy. I had it for like 4+ years... who knows how long it's been on the car.

Grab yourself a bottle of yellow HEET and I'd probably change your fuel filter if you haven't recently. If neither of those two fix the problem start looking at your ignition system.

            we were all wrong!

i went to check my spark plug gaps, i pull on the wire to get it off and the wire snapped with the prong still on the plug.
            i was like ahhhaaa!

but i fixed it and then went to remove the plug to check gaps.. when i heard this slashing noise!

my heart sank i knew what had happened....
went to the next one... same thing....

next 2 were dry thank god!

but both of the others were half way full of oil...

I am pretty sure my valve seals blew..
