Theres an oil journal less than .5" away from the #2 spark plug tube. It is usually the culprit for oil in at least the #2 tube.

I replaced all my tube seals and adjusted my valves early May, along with 4 Autolite spark plugs (not NGK, btw), and have had no problems. No leaks, no performance issues, its all blue skies as far as leaky tube seals or oil on plugs goes.

if you have basic mechanical ability you can do this job easy. the top distributor bolt has to come off and the rest of the lifter assembly bolts come off and the whole thing comes off as a whole. the little "O" seals will be stuck to the bottom side. two sets of hands work well because then you just lift up the assembly and the other person pulls out the old seals and puts in the new ones. all the bolts don't fall out. Just get the manual to follow the tightening sequence.

are any special tools needed besides a good torque wrench?

you really need the manual so you can get the tightening order and torque specs. also make sure you don't take the top 4 bolts all the way out when you remove the rocker assembly. if you don't feel comfortable, have a shop do it. it really should be only 1 hour labor.

when i changed these the other day, the manual said to loosen the adjust screws on the rocker assembly. i didn't see the point in this and i also would not have known how much to tighten them again upon reassembly. does anyone know the reason for this and if it made any difference that i didn't loosen them?

There's two sets of plug tube seals. one above and one below the rocker arm assembly.

Look in the DIY section for a walkthru on how to replace those seals.

Well I just found out today that my second to the right spark plug is cover with oil. First of all how did that happen....what will happen if it's not taken care ASAP. Should I change all four or just that one that is leaking oil???? Well the manual book say that it causes hard starting which I am experience lately, not sure about misfiring, and hesitation.

Do all 4 at once; you'd be wasting your time otherwise and making twice the work for yourself.

(from aboveTheres an oil journal less than .5" away from the #2 spark plug tube. It is usually the culprit for oil in at least the #2 tube (2nd from the right).

so what exactly is this oil spark plug thing?

im gonna do spark plug changes soon, and i tried to pull the wire out to look and it seems grimy but no oil, but if i remove the spark plug it should have oil right?
                          hahahahah
