wouldnt the euro and other imported motors from like australia and other places than japan have like an odd number? i know a couple of people up here have stamps that read f22a3 or a9 but they live in malaysia or something like that.
that im not too sure of.
For Malaysia, only recently have the engine numbers been 'standardised'
Before this, the F20 mas MA20, the F22 was MA22.
When the 6th gens were introduced, then it was F20Bx and F23ax/bx. Tho which F23, im not too sure. could be either F23a or F23b.
Coz from what Ive been reading across the board, and like what d112crzy said, most dont really know what origin the engine came from. Could be Prelude or Accord.
Because, it would be surprising if you dyno'd an Accord H22a, but hoping for it to sneeze out 200PS.
Here, even the Accord and Prelude front clips are priced differently.
If the only way the engine differed was the ECU. Anybody in America hooking a P13 up to a H22A would effectively have the same numbers as the BB4, correct? Then chipping and tuning would negate this difference even more.
Only way to surely know:
Halfcut H22A Accord
Halfcut H22A Prelude
my swap came with the p0f ecu leading me to belive it was from an accord, the link proved me right. never knew it only had the 190ps. i did notice from the beginning that the throttle body was smaller as well as the ecu.I am already running a p13 and a bigger throttle body and manifold are on their way onto the engine
I believe that to be the only difference from the regular prelude h22
The accord and prelude have different power steering pumps if I'm not mistaken.
And check the year it was made. Before 94 I dont think honda put any h22s in accords... So if its made prior to 94 its got to be out of the prelude.

Ah.. year stamp.
Say that two h22a's were both made in 1995
one is for the CD6, the other for the BB4.
how?
so, the main differences are:
1) TB
2) PS Pump
3) ECU
My h22 came from a JDM BB4. REason that I know is that the Map sensor location and throttle body size and some other crap i forgot. if you get a caliper and measure it the SIR H22 is smaller then the BB4 H22. Also the MAP sensor on the BB4 is located on the Firewall while the SIR MAP sensor is on the TB.
Did the Preludes come in automatics?
I know none of the USDM model H22s came with autos until 1997.
