    Engine removal question

I just got a hoist, and this is my first time removing an engine (specifically an F22 that I'm removing). Sounds stupid, but I need to know what I can use to reach the engine (the hoist hits the front of the car and the part where you hook the hoist to the engine doesn't reach the engine). Can I use a chain?

And, where should I hook the strap to? I was thinking to the little round hook by the p/s pump, but i'm not sure..

    thanks for your help guys

Whats up dude hopefully you got a hoist that can extend if not and the hook is not directly over the engine you wont be able to pull it that way. If it does extend I ran a chain from the front dogbone mount across to a intake manifold bolt and lifted it that way. On another note I sent you a PM.
    I need a 14b or 16g turbo!

Official removal points are the P/S pump bracket loophole and one on the tranny housing.

A chain fromt the hoist hook works with U-bolts or screws/washers/nuts. A load-leveler makes it possible for one person to remove, otherwise you need another hand to watch out for stuck wires, sensors, etc.

        load-leveler is key

and another little side note is that if you are using the chain method to kinda position the hook of the hoist on the chain closer to the powersteering pump because the engine has to come out at an angle. just ease up easy and make sure the crank pulley is clear and then just make sure the tranny gets clear of the mount bracket. personally i have never used the load-leveler and have done many engine pulls. Good luck.

yeah I did it, it wasn't too too bad, but I broke the clip on one of the harnesses for the engine. Its not too badly broken, I think it will hold up. It came out smooth though, thanks guys.
