    leaking oil under the dizzy.

I noticed when i put my hand under the dizzy my hand was full of oil and looked fresh. What is causing this leak?

its not a noticeable leak either cause it doesn't drip to the floor and stick to the tranny.

Probably the distributor seal. Be sure to mark it before you take it off so its aligned in the same spot. Shouldnt be more than 3 bucks from honda for the seal.

Yea mine has done that to 2 of my dizzys. Both h23's. But it is the o-ring on it.

Sometimes the O-ring is not the only problem. I had a leak inside the housing causing oil to pass through the distributor and pool in the cap, then slowly leak out to the transmission.

I just recently discovered i was having the same prob.

Does a whole cap/rotor have to be done or can you just replace the seal

If the inner o ring is leaking then your best bet is to replace the whole distributor. Main reason is that internal o ring is quite a bit of work to get to. Hence why people juts buy a new distributor.

That would be the 2nd seal in the base of the dizzy, you have to remove the ring and pin holding the part with the other o-ring and remove it and then remove the cap and internals to pop out that seal. The first o-ring is much easier, takes < 5mins.
I have a dizzy laying around, I can disassemble it and take pics if you need me to.
MR Thread- I brought SEXY back- LOL
If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacement anyway.

I know you got yours fixed already. I was just explaining what you said to the others.

I just finished disassembling that old dizzy I have and took pics of every step. I was bored. LOL. I'm not going to post it here, I'll make a DIY and come back and add a link.

edit: Here's the link to the DIY I just made.

I just read your DIY because I went to change my oil tonight and decided to try to chase down an oil leak. It seems like it is leaking from the distributor - so I removed it. There is oil under the cap so I think the internal seal is bad and I would like to replace it - but going to www.hondapartscheap.com they do not show a seal in the parts list. Anyone actually replaced this inner seal before? Is it available through the dealer? Part #?? Thanks!
