okay, its not my car but another car is having problems with charging battery, Ive checked everything possible without using expesive diagnostic machines, checked grounds, fuses, alternator & belts, wires from battery, name it Ive checked, but when I charge the battery it holds 13.89 at the most with it on then when I turn it off, I hook up the multimeter to it and you can actually see the voltage go down by .1 volt every 2 seconds so it goes from 13.8 to 0 in 10 minutes. what do you think its draining it. Ive checked everything obvious. dont bother thinking its grounds, terminal or whatsoever but if someone out there can help pls do so. but the catch is its a 99 dodge intrepid, the reason I posted it here is because I know Ill get more hits and responce. if you guys have any idea pls. let me kno0w thanks.

if the battery itself is draining with nothing connected. The battery is bad. Get a new battery. Its simply too old or has been charged/uncharged too much

To the poster//Did you check the fuse box? I had the same problem in my Si hathback. I just ended up replacing the the negative and postive wire terminals for the battery and fuse box that fixed my problem.Last edited by Chan_Man; 10-24-2007, 11:45 AM."form follows function."

If the battery's drainining unhooked, then get a new battery.
If the battery drains when the car is off, the lights are off, radio and everything else is off, then start pulling fuses for non-essential equipment. If that doesn't work, look for shorts. A full battery drain in 10 minutes is one hell of a draw. That's not a stereo turning on intermittently and stealing your power. I mean, I don't have a cd player in the garage, so I'll run the one in my car with the car off when I'm working on it, and it'll give me 4 to 5 hours easy, and then even crank enough to start the car afterwards, and this is just with an old Interstate battery.
Have you rewired anything in the car? Has it been in an accident lately?
CF - if drain is while battery is connected - check for shorts.Expect chaos.
