running with a faulty 02 sensor will cause you to run rich, more fuel than necessary being dumped in.

this excess of fuel can cause your cat to clog over time, spark plugs to foul up, and over time smoke out of your muffler.

i'm throwing codes also from my o2 sensor after i swapped in a dc-s header.

i was thinking about but i decided not to get it off ya.

checking codes are pretty easy, its not like you can plug a reader in and it will tell you, you have to read it off the dash.

OK, I ended up with a 41... Primary oxygen sensor heater

What is the difference between that and a 61... Primary oxygen sensor

Thanks for all the help guys!

i had i bad o2sensor. It fucks up your idle and you run rich. Even if you dont really need to, its a good idea to replace it. Then you can just throw that out the window. If you still throw a code, youll know its not you o2 S.

the heater code is part of the o2 sensor that heats it up, could be bad wiring so check that also could be 02 itself

When I removed the sensor from the old header, I had to use a propane torch to heat up the area around the sensor to even get it out. Do you think the heat from the torch could have F'ed up the sensor?

This morning on my way to work the CEL did not light up till about 25min into my ride. I thought that this was a little odd...

why did you take the dc sport header off all you had to do was fix the hole....

they mst likely gave you much more performance than the cheapy egay ones...

i am pretty darn sure about that.

The header started to look like Frankestein. The flex-pipe was replaced once already (it now has another leak) and there is the hole on the top half. I was just wanted a replacement that was cheap and would finally stop hissing at me, I will take the couple less HP over the annoying hissing noise.

Its a little too late, I did order an O2 sensor on ebay. I guess I will know for next time.

How are the NGK sensors? I almost got one of them, but I would have had to crimp on the harness from the old one.

Now I have a 1 and 41 code. It was that it would take a while and when the car got warm it would them light the CEL. Now, as soon as I turn on the car I get a light. I checked the code again and I am getting "1 O2A - Oxygen sensor #1" and "41 Primary oxygen sensor heater"

I have anyother sensor on the way, but is there a reason I would all of a sudden go from a single code to two codes?

Is it because of the design of the header because it is junk?

                          Thanks!

There were 2 spots on the header where a sensor could be installed. One on the top half which would read just one of the 4 cyl and the other on the bottom half where the 2 go into 1 right before the flex pipe. I have the sensor in the lower half right before the flex pipe just like it was on the DC header.
