Isnt there a coolant line to the auto transmission from the radator? Wouldnt just cooling your coolant better do a better job?
I cant Slam further. The ground refuses to get any lower.

well if u think about it, the coolant runs anywhere from 190 degrees to 225.

with the tranny fluid going in there it isnt as efficient as it shuld be and a aftermarket transmisison cooler would actually help.

the way i did mine was i went through the factory cooling lines from the radiator to the cooler, that way it did cool a little from the factory but then the aftermarket did the rest of the work.

i think i have a old thread on it.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

well...yea. with enough money anything can be fabbed to fit

people do it on trail rigs all the time because they are spent usually in the sun and at low speeds when there is no air passing by tge engine and tranny at such a speed, it cannot cool down.

Mounting the cooler was much harder than I thought it would be, because the zip-ties/rods that it came with were too thick to pass thru the A/C condenser, so we mounted it in front of the A/C condenser using brackets and bolts. There is a 1/2" space between the cooler, and the A/C condenser We had to cut and bend some of the brackets too.

Routing the hose was a bit hard, as me and my dad had to take off the lower center splash guard so we could reach the bottom of the stock return line at the bottom of the radiator. The stock return line had these hose clamps that were a PITA to take off too  We also used foam pipe insulation to protect the lines from heat and sharp edges.

It looks a little crooked and messy, but I'll go ahead and redo some of the zip ties and foam insulation to make it look neater (even though the bumper covers it all up ) sometime later on. When I started the car there were absolutely no leaks or any other kinds of problems, but we did have to add about a 1/2 quart of fluid since we spilled some, along with the added capacity from the added cooler...

Now I need to see how this helps out the transmission at tomorrow's Auto-X

                            ive got one.

its a warden unit made for a mid sized suv

as for effectiveness, tranny shifts firmer as the fluid heats up.

                            all autos should have one.
