Mobil 1 is supposed to be very good, from what I've heard. It's considerably more expensive than, say, GTX or MaxLife, but you should be able to bump up your oil change interval too, so that saves a bit of cash. I'd make sure your filter is rated for an extended-use period as well though.

Hey man try this new Mobil 1 Full Synthetic High Mileage oil. I used to run Q advanced and the regular mobil one synthetic and used to leak a lot. But since i put this in about 2 weeks ago, not one drop is on my oil pan. It works!, cost is pretty low too; about 20 bucks for a 5 quart jug at Walmart. It has some detergents in there or something that helps your seals from leaking. I paired it up with this Fram Highmileage filter I think its part HM3593. It too has these detergents in it apparently that release slowly over time to stop leaks. It was about $5.69 at Walmart as well. so total it cost me like 28 bucks with tax for full synthetic and a filter. try it out.

I say used whatever your engine is used to. They dont likse to just switch midlife, (Its like having a established 50 yr old switch careers midlife, its hard on them, and could possible fail)

I changed once, bc my uncle told me to use that guy bc its better. I did, and my oil light went on. I put back me regualar stuff, told him, and he said, then i guess your motors to used to the oil you use, so just keep on doing what youve been doing.

Thats very true, But its worth a shot, when I had my f22 i switched oil all the time trying to find what I like for price and such.

eventually your seals will give way, theres no prolonging the inevitable, but would you rather run conventional 'stuff i always use', or high mileage full synthetic thats better for your engine? its up to you its your car. full synthetic is way better than conventional hands down. Now they have a high mileage version of it that acts like conventional, which doesn't seep through seals yet gives benefits of reduced friction and no wear.

ive tried mobil1 (10w30 like the previous oil) and i couldnt tell the difference.. if anything it felt like the engine was not putting out as much as the clean cheap stuff. i would have to say mobil1 isnt as great as people hype about ( official oil tests prove that as well )
i used that GTX and it runs great.
i barely put 3k on the accord in 6 months and its my DD. sooo i buy cheap supertech oil that i change every 2-2.5k my oil is always clean

but ok an answer to your post. i would say just keep using you old oil as anyone would.

are you serious? mobil 1 isn't the best out there but its 10x better than that 'cheap stuff'. whatever its your engine man.

                            Only trying it will tell.

I was using Pennzoil Platinum (Group III, one that some people don't consider a true synthetic, but close enough for me) that I got for half price, has no notable oil loss between changes using the 7,500 mile interval. Next I'll be using some Valvoline SynPower (also group III) I also got for half price. Both are an Energy Conserving SM rated oil.
