It should not come on and off randomly though, that is not normal. And it only comes on at 230 degrees, which is very hot. It will run a few minutes and then shut off.
This happened to me and it was the sensor aka switch for the condenser fan. It is the green colored switch on the top radiator hose inlet near the head.
You can test it out by disconnecting the switch and bridging the terminals in the connector while your key is out and engine is off. The fan should come on and stay on as long as the terminals are bridged.
good luck

There is also a switch near the lower hose inlet on the thermostat housing, which only operates the radiator fan while the engine is running. It somes on at lower temperatures.

MY cb does it all the time, on cool days when i shut the car off, it doesnt come on
on hot days it comes on.
even on cool days when i beat the shit outta my cb, the fan will come on.

my car does the same freaking thing, so i actually have to wait like 5-10 sometimes (depending on how long i drove for) to set my alarm because i have it set to sense current draw and the fan sets it off. for the longest time i thought it was my door triggers.
but where exactly is this timer or whatever you guys are speaking of and whats the name of it so i can at least attempt to fix this because its annoying to have to remember to set my alarm after ive already gone in for the night.
thanks

This is wrong. The fan timer also kicks on the radiator fan alone when the engine is off after its been running for a while, it also shuts the fan off after a certain amount of time. Hence the term fan timer.
The ac switch controls the condensor fan(4 blades) only. When idling at a stop light or sign BOTH fans are suppose to come , depending on your thermostat type, when the temperature hits 185 or 195 or higher.
If you are idling and only the radiator fan(5 blades) comes on then there is something wrong with the ac switch/circuit or the fan motor itself. If both fans dont come on the thermo switch, relay, motor, fan timer, fuse, or circuit is badLast edited by Fake Thug; 09-09-2007, 03:01 PM.
