    eBay CAI intake ..

I just wanted to ask whether or not I can use the CAI (2 piece) as a short ram intake and leave the extension?

I don't really want to put the CAI now, but would like the option to do so, but I am not sure if it'll fit. Will it be better to just buy a SHORT RAM?

    Thanks.
    hahahahah

as long as the upper half ends right behind/before the battery, you're good.

darn, that's kinda hard to tell right? LOL

they all look like it's possible, but I duno if I want to risk it. my stock box piping are kinda messed up so I might just get an intake.

yea I really cant remember where my friend's upper half ends, and its hard to tell from ebay pics.
        edit*
bah, who am I kiddin the ebay CAI (two Piece) will more than likely work as SRI as long as the cold air bottom half isn't installed. The filter MIGHT be needed to be put on further down on the pipe than normal (like an inch and a half). look for the ones that have one piece that looks like a stretched S and another that looks sorta like a j.

do they work just as good as a AEM cold air intake (CAI)?

I mean its just a pipe and a filter ...right?

no other performance bolt on will give you better bang for the buck than an aftermarket intake unit. this holds true for a permanent high-performance stock replacement filter. an engine compartment air velocity intake unit, or a cold air intake system. whitch sytem you choose all depends on what you want to do with your car,if you live in a rainy dusty area a cai may not be for you. if you live in a hot climate, under the hood temps can become exccessivly warm, so a standard air velocity intake may not perform as wellas a cold air unit.
standard units suck hot engine compartment air in, whitch is not as conductive to combustion as cooler air.
on avarage we have found a 3-8 % increase in hp. depending on your car. these are gained by using intakes under $200.
you will also notice with a long cai that you will gain more torque on the dyno than if you have a shorter ram intake that gives you more breathe at those higher rpm's.. this is verry critical when talking about vtec motors because they need to breathe more at higher rpms than lower,, but for the f22 a good way to create a lil more torque is go with a cai. also a $50 replacement filter has proven between 1-3 hp in the stock box,, but more can be had by a cold air intake or short ram intake

the answer is yes they are almost the same as aem except they aren't painted with heat sensitive paint... if you do buy a cheap one as i did,, be sure to get a k&n filter to work properly
aslo to creat a heatshield for the short ram intake is verry critical as in certain cars it has been shown that the ones with the heat shield yeild up to 10 hp more.

yes, technically/logically most of that is correct, but i rather look at dyno results for intakes. im not sure where you are getting your numbers from (as far as hp gains) but ive seen a testing for diff intakes on an H22 and they were NOT impressive.

best bang for buck? just stick to the OEM air box. haha ** note that this was on a prelude**

as mentioned each climate and condition will either help or hurt the motor. but to each their own.
