the Audio shop i hang out at gets them str8 from the Distributor...brand new..inspected and all.

Yes they make half size batteries and yes they are AS strong...i ran a half size battery(yellow top) in my cb for a few months and it was perfect. My car never ran that good since. And when i say half size i mean the ones that are the size of stock 96 civic batteries....small shit. OPTIMA is a strong battery and it cant be doubted...just ask owequitit....his testimony is all i ever hear about them.

And as far as exploding...its beyond the battery, it could have been a defective battery, a deffective alternator(it was a ford wasnt it? lol) i mean the list goes on....too many factors to say it was the battery...thats the first ive heard of a OPTIMA exploding but not the first ive heard of Automotive batteries exploding.

And price, they shouldnt be 280$ thats insane...150-180 is the right price range, the new ones for this year were redesigned and the price went up...i think the reds go for like 175 now....but over 200 and your getting ripped off like a motherfucker...

So to each his own, but this info comes from a audioshop here that gets them str8 from the dist so

Id suggest it to everyone, ill never buy another battery other then an Optima.

So just to make sure. If everything is hooked up right in my car my yellow top battery is safe, no risk of exploding?

I have had my red top in my car for almost two years, the 1st year no system and the 2nd with and it has done fine. I have the red top and it does just fine by me.

if you do not have a sound system then the red will be fine. but if you do have one then you may want to invest in a yellow top. i bought my yellow top at costco.
