Ive got the factory f22 and mine kinda does the same thing. its a bit more unnoticable in the summer cuz its hotter, but in the winter i sometimes dont even have to put on my heat cuz its putting out hot air already.

i was gonna be an ass and say, its cuz you have no A/C and you need to turn the knob away from hot, or off but i held my tongue cuz i have the same prob.

It does that its part of the HVAC system. Its just bringing outside air in. Intake filter has nothing to do with this.

            I had the same problem.

Does your hold/cold level control knob feel loose? That part of the system is cable operated so it should take a little bit of effort to switch it between the the hottest level to the coldest level.

Mine felt loose and extremely easy to turn so I removed the dash surrounding (the black piece that goes around the dash and the center console area) and then removed the heater/ac control unit. I found out that the cable attached to the heater core was no longer connected to the unit. Easy fix... just slipped it back on the slider that is controlled by the knob.

I finally had cooler air blowing through the vents

I thought that "hard-as-fuck-to-turn" feeling was a problem...

Not sure, but it shouldn't feel extremely (hurts your fingers sort of) hard to turn. Just a little bit of effort is required.
