    Car is holding back

Just like the title says. My car is holding back. I mean you reving the crap out of the engine but the car is going slowly as if something or somebody really strong was holding it.
What could be the problem? Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.
    PS: the car is Manual

More descriptive will work. Tune up lately? All that other stuff. Recently done work? When it started?

You check your spark plugs? You cat could be clogged does it hold at 3500 rpm.

The problem started about 2 months ago. At first there was that whistling noise coming from the driver front wheel. Then the noise was gone but the car started holding back. Tune up on the car hasn't been done since last summer 06.

The car is catless (empty cat). I will check the spark plugs but I doubt that the problem because the car idles properly and rev normally in neutral. It is just when you drive it that the car is holding back. When driving, if I put neutral, the speed drops way too FAST as if I pressed suddenly the brake.

And how do U do that? What signs will tell me that it is seized?

One thing that sound you said you heard. And the way you mention your car decelerates quick after you let off the throttle. Easy way to see is one wheel will be hotter than the other. Usually they are pretty equal but if the caliper is siezed bad enough it will generate an abnormal amount of heat to that particular rim. Another way is to pull off the caliper and try to push it back in. If it doesnt theres your problem.

check ur e-brake/drum brakes, make sure the ebrake cables are disengaging .. but i'm thinking it might be seized/locked brakes as well. maybe mount the front of ur car up on jack stands and run it to check the front.

u can also check to see if ur Dizzy cap is loose or cracked.

Actually, there has been an abnormal amount of heat coming out from that particular rim. However, when I changed the pads lately; I was able to push back the caliper piston using a C-clamp.

The E-brake cables are disengaging. Did U mean to drive the car on jack stands? What signs should I look at particularly?

I guess I am going to buy a new caliper to see if that will fix the problem and let U know. I have to bleed the system after installing new caliper, right? Should I bleed all 4 corners or just the one changed?

Thanks you all for your reply.

i'd jack the front of the car up.. drive it.. have one one look at the wheels to see if they are spinning without struggle.. throw it in neutral and see if the a wheel comes to a faster stop .. obviously to see if the brakes have stayed clamped.

hmm... i was wondering if u tranny was going out or not .. cus back when a tranny went out on me, it just seemed sluggish until i wasn't able to get into 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear anymore.

Hmm then next step I forgot to add would be to jack up the side of the car and spin it see if it spins freely with the car in neutral. It should. Forgot about that test lol. Did the brake pads look like normal wear when you tore them off?

Is it throwing any codes?.I would do a simple tune up and go from there.Kinda seems like a tranny issue to me because my civic did the same thing to me.
