electric supercharger. don't laugh to hard

i must say that this is something i love!!
(innovation) !!! without this our sport would be no where..
an electric supercharger that can put 15 psi to the ground at launch and pretty much snuffs out to 3 psi at a high rpm... but even then 3 psi is more than nothing..
i do believe i must give this man mad props.. it's not a cb but it is inovation that thrills..

i would love something like this on my h22 and it kick on like a vtec at 1,000 rpms,, and keep my car an automatic,,
thus creating like 2 vtec's!! haha that would be sweet.
read all of it before you bash please..

www.boosthead.com is the official website. That has been around for a few years now. The design is solid, and it does work.

The only thing is that it is designed for short bursts of power, more like a nitrous system. It's not a full time setup. Still, in a way, it's better that way!

Spend $400 on batteries, upgrade your alternator, and your're good to go

man, i remember when i started driving(1982 toyota corona) i wanted to install an electric supercharger! to my carburetor! i was thinking leaf blower though lol.

This is definitly innovative! I did flame on the idea when i first saw it on ebay years ago. Of course what do i know.. my friends and i ghetto rigged a air compressor to his intake on his integra once.. lol. Someone get it and test it out!!

As far as I know, this is the only electric supercharger worth buying. It's run by extra batteries, rather than straight from the alternator. The alternator is then used to charge the batteries when they're depleted. I don't know if it's on this newer version of the site, but the old version of the site had an explanation of how it works. The alternator recharges the batteries when the supercharger is not in use... upgrade your alternator, get some good batteries, and you can recharge in the staging lanes before another run

I've heard that the e-ram also works... but I don't see how.

I wonder if it would work in conjunction with the roots blower...

This thread made me want one of these again though! It's half the cost of a procharger, and probably a safer option, since it's not always on.

If I remember correctly, this electric supercharger is insanely loud when you turn it on...

                            yes if read,
the whole tons of reading material it does explain how the batteries / alternator / everything works...
although it only works in sperts.. to launch at 15 psi would be fun on a non turbo car... and as mentioned it is only on when you want it,, so the mere fact of hurting your motor from continuos wear is verry slim.
i do believe i would want to set it up so at 1,000 rpm's it's kicked on and 6,000 rpm;s it shuts off, with a controll to turn this mode on and off. it would work great on my auto h22.. in theory......
