My car has been sitting since the first week in December 2012. I know it's 87 octane, and my H takes 93. I have like 7/8 of a tank in there. I'm going yo drain it out. I'm wondering if it's still usable. Any thoughts.

Im sure it would be ok mixed with new gas, but you might be better off using it for lawn equipment or just recyling it and buying new gas.

You want to use this in the H?

Doesn't it need premium? So then use it how?

Not for my H. If it's usable, I'll give it to my mom and cousin to use use in their vehicles. I may just add a bottle of Seafoam or gas stabilizer to it before I drain it.

How about using a bottle of octane booster?
I don't have experience using the stuff but I may give it a shot if it was me.

I had drained fuel through the drain plug and I didn't like doing it.

Other time, I had jerry rigged a hose attached to a fuel line near fuel filter and hot wired fuel pump to pump out fuel. I didn't like doing this either.

I think I'll just use some latex gloves and a big ass bucket. I'll crack the drain bolt and let it flow.

better have a few buckets ready. 7/8 of 17 is about 15 gallons......

you'd be better off getting one of these:

              http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-FloToo.../dp/B000EH0ORI

and siphoning out the gas yourself. You'll have a lot more control of it that way. Once you reach the bottom of the tank with the siphon, use the drain plug.

You should be able to get a shaker siphon at an auto parts store for pretty cheap.

We have an anti-siphon device in our tanks. I already tried to siphon the gas out. I have a big red 20 gallon bucket ready.

You can always put the bolt back in when the bucket is getting full and change the bucket. That gas is just fine, I store my car over 6 months every year and never drain it. Countless number of people store there cars during winter without any problems. Of course I don't go WOT or to redline with the old gas but no problem driving around till its low and fill up with new.

I wouldnt use that gas because its 87 octane though.

using sour fuel when no stabilizer has been added is a big no no. water condensates into it, rust forms, volatile liquids and vapors dissipate . go ahead and run your 6 month old fuel till its empty but plan on changing your fuel filter each spring.
