how bout you check the code instead of making it go away by turning it off.

just cus the light went away, doesnt mean its fixed.

o lol..well my "other" ride (99 civic coupe) is throwing its CEL as well...and my pops said that when he got it...the recent owner mentioned it was the "timing belt" that needed to be replaced soon...so that's why i threw that theory there. but GL guy

            oxygen sensor

My car does the excact thing sometimes it never comes on an some times right away I have an h22 into a 92 coupe with no 02sensor or cat but the code was 1 which was o2 sensor code

Try this take the car out drive it easy (light shouldnt come on for a while)
Then take the car out and Drive it hard redlining as close a possible "of course being safe" (light should come on quicker than before) if so its probely the o2 circuit... Good luck lemme know how it goes

                  Replace your O2 sensor
The reason it takes varying lengths of time for the CEL to appear is the heating cycle of the sensor, it has to reach full temp before the engine turns it "on"
Flooring the car disables the 02 sensor, either that or above 4500... one of the two, it just richens the fuel. No flooring it around everywhere will not make it come on sooner. You have to cruise on the Fwy 55-60 ish

Here is the test for the "02 Phantom Code" also known as code 43
Have the car out of gear
                  Start car
                  Hold idle at 2100-2900 rpm
                  Light will come on
                  Maximum time is 5 mins

Mine did it, all of a sudden the exhaust made like a pop noise when the CEL crossover came on. New o2 fixed it.
