    F22b swap... ECU question

I'm currently running a F22a SOHC (F22a1) w/ auto tranny. In the next month or so I will be swapping on a rebuilt F22b DOHC head and I'm being told that I will have to change my ECU as well. I was giving an H22 ECU from an auto (P14) and I was wondering if that would work or do I need to get the original F22b DOHC ECU? Where you at Nelson (NAiL05) lol? Help!

H22A is a p13 and you will be throwing CEL if you run it. The H23 P14 will work but you need to wire in a knock sensor. Your other choice would to be run a chipped p06. Also you can run a pt6 with the combo but it wont run to its full potential. The OEM ecu for an f22b is a p39.

Thanx for the quick reply Nelson. I was hoping the one Justin gave me would work. Is it hard to run a knock sensor and is it necessary to have one? Or does it need to be there just to keep the cel code off?

It needs to be there to prevent you from throwing the CEL and car running like shit. You just need the sensor/plug and wire it to whatever pin it supposed to be at at the ecu. its in the swap faq i forgot which pin it goes to.

So the knock sensor looks like this huh? It looks like its placed behind the engine under the intake manifold and it's connected to the head. Can you see the knock sensor in this picture? It looks like it may be broke off. Do you screw it in that little pin hole right above where the oil filter goes? Will I need to get a crank sensor and wire it to the ECU as well? Where will that need to be installed?

You dont need any other sensors. IT looks broken off but seems like it still has the head of it so you can screw it off and screw the new one on.
