    Overheating problems in a 3g

This isnt my 93 but it is my girl's 89 accord, and here's the dilemma.
Her car has been overheating, but when you are driving if you put the heat on high and drive, the temp gauge goes down and stays below midpoint. If the heat isnt on, it goes up to the h, which stands for hot by the way. Someone has suggested it was the thermostat, and someone else suggested the fans, any ideas or suggestions? i had to work tonight so i couldnt check it out myself.
please help, we would appreciate it.

easy way to check the fan.. (passenger side fan)= the rad fan.. so.. let it get hot.. pop the hood and look at it.. if it never moves and the needle keeps rising.. its dead and needs to be replaced.. both thermostat and fan are cheap.. i got one for 20buxs shipped off ebay for my 3g.. which deever is buying.. cant let him drive 1k with the heater on..

so yeh.. flush the coolant too.. i flushed mine.. and boy it wasnt pretty..

        thermostat

and check to see if the coolant is at least 50/50...if there is no water it will over heat.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
