i think your speaking of the torque converter,, because that will controll how hard it shifts

ok sorry but yes i don't care how hard your tcu tells your tranny to shift it will not do so without the proper splines in the torque converter to do so,,, thats like trying to paddle a boat with a flag pole... thats rediculous... when you have shift kits put in automatics you create more of a curved spline that builds up more pressure to shoot more fluid at once creating a harder shift... ohh and yes i do know what i am speaking of... i worked with a good friends of my father in a transmission shop for almost a year.. and i learned alot more than i should ever need to know.

A shift kit is basically a stiffer spring that goes in a valve body in the transmission. So it "shifts" harder. Yes my hydraulics teacher builds high performance trannies and I had an auto trans teacher. If you know what a torque converter is its there to help generate torque in the lower rpm so you can move in an auto. It does nothing with shifting. Shifting is controlled via TCU that sends pressure in the valve body to grip the clutches some crap like that ill think about it after i dedrunk myself. You need to go review your transmissions again.

ok... this probably does not help the situation but...

NEVER EVER neutral drop with an auto tranny. It'll mess up the tranny really bad.

As for the shift kits... listen to Nail05. He's right. The shift kits are just a stiffer spring. So technically you could probably piece together your own shift kit... (anyone up for doing a diy?)

Also auto sticking the tranny is bad too. The valve body can be damaged by the auto sticking. I know with some domestic cars, people place the manual valve body onto the auto trannies so thereby making a sequential tranny thingy. However this is not possible (if it is, it has yet to be done) on hondas.

For daily driving, getting a performance torque converter will def help you get moving. I recommend the one from Level 10 performance. It works well and I love it.

allows you to change your automatic into a sequential. Have not heard or read any reviews. therefore i'm not sure as to how safe this is.

lol you are talking about 2 totally different tranny's and even though yes the spring must also be replaced that goes along with the whole shift (kit) i am sorry i just talked about the torque converter... (kit) meaning lots of parts has more than just some extra curved splines as you popinted out... you can trick your solenoids into making the torque converter hold more pressure until it shifts thus causing a higher torque output at once thus creating a slam u in your seat shift.

you know what more i look at it,,, we are both discussing the same point.

obviously it's like a motor,, you have to change alot of things from internals to computers for it to work properly as a bad little street machine

How do you trick the solenoids? Whats with the shift kit and were can I get one?

level 10 does make valve bodies. I called them today. Can't seem to find it on the site though. But they do make it.

The torque converter does not hold pressure. The torque converter does however transmit power from the engine to the transmission oil pump which in turn creates pressure.
