    Valve cover gasket & Spark plug replacement - Questions

    Hi all,

    I've noticed a bit more of oil leaking from my Valve cover gasket and I'd like to get this replaced before it blows out and/or before I trade my accord in, so I'm looking for a bit of help.

    From doing a forum search, I think I've got the procedure down as far as the cover removal, the head surface cleaning, the gasket replacement, and the remounting of the cover.

    One of my friends recommended replacing the spark plugs & PCV valve while I'm at it as well. The PCV valve is simple enough.

    Regarding the spark plugs, I'm guessing its the following steps:

    - Removing the old plugs
    - Get the correct gap spacing on the plugs - Anyone have this info for '92 LX 2.2?
    - Reinsert plugs and torque to correct specs - Anyone have this info?

    Also, my only other question is how much to torque the valve cover bolts?

    Any other issues or suggestions?

    gap - .039-.043

    the rest is pretty much common sense..

    torque the plugs till they are tight, just dont try to be hercules and tighten the hell out of them.. the valve cover bolts, just until they are snug.. these are very easy to break, seen it multiple times.. just use your head and know when to stop.. they dont take much..

    id recommend investing in a haynes manual.. all this info is there along with everything else you pretty much need to know about your car..

      the valve cover..tighten til they are snug tight...then a 1/4 turn more..that's it. if you tighten them down a lot, you will leak..i jsut replaced mine..2 times, since the guy that did it for me the first time..didn't know that..

        careful

        careful with that 1/4 turn more though, before I just tightened until snug. After I read 1/4 turn more, I tried it and snapped one, luckly I didnt snap them all. Just until it's a snug fit. Like they say, if you're using the right tool you won't have to force it.

          as for the gap on the plugs...just ask the shop your buying them from. they can get you that info. i'll look it up.

            watch those acorn nuts on top. those can split easily if you're not careful with the torqueing.

              Spark plug gap 1.0-1.1 mm or 0.039-0.043 in
