Why Doesnt My Car Like 02sensor

ok, my 02 sensor was shot a long time ago...
coming down a hill that goes up into another hill, i was flooring it and when i hit the middle of both hills my bottom hit the ground and killed my 02 sensor (how do i kno? took it to a friends shop ahd him look at it because the engine light poped on, we determined it was that).

after months i replaced it with a new (but used) one.
it worked fine for a few days then i got a code for it, so i un hooked it until i got another one.

put the new (but used, i kno i kno) one on there and i got a code for 43....unhooked it and i just got the 02sensor code.

i just replaced my main relay not to long ago, so i hooked the 02sensor back up and.......i got kno code at all but......

when rev the car pass 3000 rpm or try to drive it, it revs up but then just drops to idle, even while i have my foot still on the gas.

    any clues?

also after seeing this, i unhooked the 02sensor and the cars drives fine, like normal.

i really dont care about having the 02sensor functioning right ( i dont have a Cat anyways) but im planning to get my car tune/dyno-ed and im not sure if it has to be in working order or what

Damn and i thought my car had problems You sure it was a 43? i dont think there is a 43 code last time i checked and im lookin at it now it says 42.???? Perhaps your readin the code wrong Did you reset the ecu after you pulg the other o2 in. Cause uhhh most ecu;s tend to store the codes and tend to forget about emm very slowly.

    code-0 faulty ecu
code-1 oxygen content - check the oxygen sensor heater and sensor circuit
code-3&5 manifold absolute pressure - check the map sensor and circut
code-4 crank angle sensor (crank) check the crank angle sensor and circuit
code-6 coolant temperature check the coolant temperature snsor and circuit
code-7 throttle angle (tps)-check the throttle position sensor and circuit
code-8 tdc position check the tdc sensor and the circuit
code-9 No.1 cylinder position (cyl) check the cyl sensor and the circuit
code-10 intake air temperature (iat) sensor check the TA sensor and circut
code-12 Exhaust gas recirculation system check the hoses and egr valve lift sensor and the valve
code -14 idle air control (iac) check the iac valve and system
code 15 ignition output signal check the ignition system
code 16 fuel injector check the fuel system and the injectors
code 17 vehicle speed sensor have the vehicle checked at the dealer and service department or other repair shop( chea right)?
code- 20 electric load detector (eld) check the eld system
    code - 30 a/t signal A (automatic transaxle vehicles) read code 17
code - 31 a/t fi signal b (automatic same as above what a ripp off
code - 41 oxygen sensor heater check the heater for the proper voltage signal
code 42 fuel supply system check the fuel pressure regulator and oxygen sensor, also check for vacuum leaks.

THeres no code 43 that i know of bro sorry

        43
        Fuel Supply System
Defective or malfunctioning Fuel Supply System

From looking in my service manual, it could either be fuel injectors, injector-related wiring, pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pump, or main relay. There are diagnostics for each of those, so if u need me to scan a couple pages I will. Also I dont think this is related to the O2 sensor.

^ what he said....but thats not my problem

im talking about the 02sensor issue tho

but thanks SpeedFreak03 for clearing that up for us

i just want to mainly kno if my 02sensor has to be function correctly to beable to get my car tune/dyno

i guess thats just something i will have to ask the tech

When they tune your car on a dyno, they use a wideband O2 sensor, not the one on the car. So yes you can still get it tuned just fine. But heres the thing - what if the ECU modifies the A/F ratio when you fix the O2 sensor? Then you would have to get it tuned again. That's the only thing I would worry about. But if you have a working O2 sensor on there, and the O2 sensor code goes away, then you are fine. I'd replace the O2 sensor with a known working one, and get it tuned and be done with it!

yeah, thats my next option, buying a new 02sensor, if and when i get it and it still does the same thing, im just not going to run one, ive been not running one for like almost a year now and my pressure stays at the correct psi.

so i might see if they can tune it without me having to hook the 02sensor back up and if the settings will stay the same. if so then im not gona run the 02sensor....not planning to run my car thru emissions anymore

              goin all out strip/race

              thanks Speed

np man, it should be fine without one. I'm used to that OBD2 shit (DSMs), if you have a dead or no O2 sensor it wacks your A/F ratio out. But since CB7s are OBD1, you'll be fine since you've been running without one for a while. Good luck and let us know what happens !
