    rod knocking questions NEED INPUT.

Another florida road (turnpike, construction road, "dip" more like brick wall) ate my cb7's 2nd oilpan (big dent) and i started to get a knock, and twice the oil light flickered

When im around 2 - 3.5 k and just normal driving, the rod has a slight knock, but when i nail it, rev to 7500 no problems, nothing runs strong, but the normal driving seems to be knocking, can this come from lack of oil pressure, or do i have clearence between the bearing and the crankshaft?

also, if i were to go ahead and replace the rod bearings now and measured clearence with a plastigauge and it came out fine i should be alright right?

or should i get a new crankshaft anyways???

First of all, CHANGE the oil pan first. If the oil light flickers at all there is sign of problems.

The rod knock could be caused by oil starvation due to your dented oil pan.

And about the plasti gague, do you plan on doing it with the engine still in the car and you laying on your back? You wont be able to change the crank anyway if the transmission is on the car.

x2. I would not even drive the car. drain the oil and if you see metal, don't even bother. but if you don't, take your pan off and inspect the rod bearings. good luck. I could of swore that someone mentioned that cali road sucks. and he was from florida too. oh well.

i know what im doing i replaced the crankshaft in another car and i had to remove the tranny and the pulley on the crank, i replaced rod bearings in a honda before. just not the crankshaft, its the SLIGHTEST KNOCK btw, i had to put a stethoscope to confirm it.

Whether slight knock or what not its gonna get worse. Its just early signs of shit starting to crap out on you. Make sure it aint something else first. Check your plugs and crap.
