Do any state inspections ever check for something like this?

they shouldnt because old cars didnt have it. even some of the mid 90s civics dont have it.

very true. If I ever have a problem with the pump (unlikely) or rusted lines, I may just remove the PS. Or if I fall into some money and make it a track car or something.
