    CV Axle

Well the sad news, i looked at my axles to make sure they were okay cuz my car was making this funny noise. I turned my wheel to the left to reveal my axle on the driver side. The boot was busted open... so now I'm in search to get a new axle and trying to see how difficult it is to remove it and replace it... thx guys

Takes some time. The whole swap the hardest part is taking out the 36mm nut out. Everything else is self explanatory basically. Dont forget to pick up some new cotter pins for the castle nuts on the LBJ, and tie rod end. Spare hand is helpful sometimes but yea that should be bout it. Get one from autozone or something lifetime warranty.

i just bought a new axle from autozone and they give you lifetime warranty so if you ever rip boots they give you a new one....pretty good deal imo...but it depends if it is making noise or is dried out cause all the grease came out then get a new one if not then you can change a boot if ya want

Buy a whole thing. Replacing the boot itself is a messy job plus you dont get warranty on it so if it rips again that means another trip to the parts store. If you buy a complete axle if it fucks up you can blame someone and reduces the effort of work.

If your OEM axle is still in good shape, Get a quick boot kit(auto zone) like I did. Easiest/best route to go. You dont want to have to keep changing out autozone remans every year or have your car shimmy/vibrating at 60-75mph.

Those remans are bottom of the barrel because one, they are built shoddy, two they reuse the core, no matter how old, pitted or worn it is, three they dont balance them properly. That makes them worthless imo. Its possible you might get a decent one, but why chance it? I've played this game three times with my girl's car. U also prolly dont want to know how much honda charges for their new one. With the quick boot kit you dont even have to remove the axle.

you dont have to remove the wheel. You just cut off your old boot , put the new one on, clamp it, Stuff the hell out of it with axle grease, zip it or fasten it. I used one of these kits december 2005 and its still good. So much for a temp fix...lol Oh and for good remans if you insist(lol) raxles.com

I just replaced mine the other day. I dont trust any of the advance auto ones, or any other part stores REMAN axles... There is a company in my area that remans Axles, Starters, Alternators, and everything else... They are the company that I use... They are THE BEST, and they warranty everything!

Yep my friend hookup is the same. Its one of the better places around the Dallas area that has axles and lifetime warranty ftw. My last set went for about 2.5 years before I replaced it.

Easy man. Cut the clumps with a pair of dykes. Remove the old boot, clean the old grease of the joint, the quick boot opens up , you wrap it around the axle shaft, clamp it on both ends, then grease it while its open, then either zip it or screw it. Takes about 10 minutes. If you remove the wheel. check it out maine
