Bogging, backfiring, CEL... back to normal???

I was driving around today and the car was DYING... bogging, sluggish, pits in the powerband... eventually a CEL came up and the car just ran like shit, bogging and backfiring the whole way home. But I let it sit for a bit, went out to diagnose the CEL, and it went back to normal...???? What could it be??? I'm thinking TPS, MAP sensor, or the O2 sensor... I'm gonna go for another drive and see if I can get it to act up again, but man this is scary

Reset the ECU, Then recreate how you was driving and see if you can get the CEL to come back on.

I will tell you this. My car bogged and sputtered once when I had bad gas in there. But since you threw a CEL see what it was reading. Mine didnt it just bogged, sputtered like a mofo and when it got rid of the gas it ran better.

Check the spark plugs if you dont find any of those to be the problem.

possibly the EGR valve being clogged with carbon deposits?

Update... bad ground wire from the battery to the block it appears. As far as this occuring on CBs, I'm 2 for 2... I drove to a party and came out, and the car wouldn't crank at all, but the lights were all bright, meaning the battery was good, but the wiring couldn't carry the necessary current to start the car. I knew immediately it was the ground wire as I had the same exact problem before... weak start, weak electricals. The problem seems to have gone away as well, it doesn't bog and I can't replicate the CEL.

I think I might have got a bad batch of gas too... it ran like a champ on Mobil... I went to a generic station and got a half a tank earlier today and this shit started. No VTEC for me till it's through

UPDATE... just put in a new 2 gage ground wire... runs like a top

Again I'm 2 for 2 with this happening to me on CBs... here's what I had to say last time it happened

Remember, our cars are old as Oprah...so if there's a weird problem it's probably due to age. My ground wire was rotten and filled with that cyanish powder...which is to be expected from a 12 year old car.

So yea...if you ever have trouble starting up your CB, go for new battery wires. It's a 20 minute job for the negative...the positive takes a little more work but is still childs' play...and even if you replace ALL the wires with Super Advan JDM 0-gauge Blritzu Titanium God cables, it'll probably still be cheaper and definitely waaaaaay easier than getting a new starter or battery.
Only thing now is to get rid of the old negative wire... I hate clutter. I'll probably get a grounding kit soon.
