    oxygen sensor replacement

Does any one know the best way or have any pointers on replacing the o2 sensor

the best way is to get the special socket made just for 02 sensors, some wd40 and LOTS of elbow grease.

the tool shouldn't be too expensive. hell you should be able to rent one from the parts store especially if you have an Autozone near you. it's not really a nut. the best way to describe it is it's kinda like a sparkplug with a long wire on the rear end.

umm by your handle, you've got an EX? the 02 sensor on the EX is on the downpipe. it's going to be a lot easier for you to mess around with yours compared to my DX because the heat shield kinda covers mine BUT with the socket tool it shouldn't be too bad.

yep I do, and I took my heat shield bolts out along time ago, I slide it off when needed. I know how it looks and what it is just never took 1 out, wondering could I do it before the game came back on

You can get both with an adjustable wrench as thats how I did mine and my friends maxima. Its not recommended because of the worries about rounding off and blah blah blah.

            1. LX/DX, take off the heat shield and unplug. Take adjustable wrench on tighten to right size and break it off. Or just get the righ sized one which is like a 22mm or so.

            2. EX, Same way but exhaust is gonna have to be forced down a lil (lazy but it works)

            3. Have PB Blaster in hand as mentioned soak it and it will make it easier.

I was wondering were you was at, so you think its harder for the ex's. Do I have to get under the car

The best thing to make it come out easier is to use a torch on the outside of the o2 sensor bung. I sprayed it down with wd40 and let it sit for 20 mins, then I put the torch on it for a couple mins. Came right off with little effort.

Its a bit harder you have to get under the car. Make sure its supported by jack stands and prepare for an hour if not less of cussing and shit trying to get the sensor off lol. But yea pb it let it sit as mentioned and wipe off where your bout to twist it off. WD-40 is a bit more slick and makes it easier to round off bolts sometimes so I stay away from it. PB is a lil more grippier IMO but thats me.
