Very Very Hard to go from P to N [Shifting]

When i bought the car [few months ago], the car did have the problem, but it wasn't so bad as it is now. The car is a Automatic and is VERY VERY hard to shift it from P DOWN. I noticed that sometimes it doesn't register that it is in P so i have to push it up to P to make sure it registers.

Well now, in order for me to shift down from P, i have to use both hands, one on the release button, the other on the base of the stick and pull down with a lot of force.

I was wondering if this is a problem with the shifter or the linkage cable. I took the center console apart and when i press the break everything seems like its working the way is suppose to, but its just hard.

If needed, i can take a mini-video with my camera and post it on youtube so you guys can see.

    Any suggestions??

I would say it is the shifter cable, we were just discussing it yesterday. And we've discussed it about 8 times in the past. And then some times before I joined.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

100% the shifter cable. My mom had to have hers replaced too because it was bad. Be forewarned, it's not a cheap part from the dealer.

is it something one can do oneself, or is better to bring it to a mech? and as far as being discussed before, i searched and i saw about the car stuck on D4 and what nots, but since mine is hard to move from P, just wanted to verify. again thanks.

this happened to me except it was through most of the gears, and it was the shifter cable. installed the new one and the problem went away.

if you did it yourself, mind making a DIY. and how much was the cable?

Here's the one from a day ago.

              Here's honda's removal/installation instructions

              Cable is $126 from honda

I see used ones on ebay, but they look like they're in good condition. You can feel by hand the condition they will be in.

just put in neutral to park and pull e-brake my switch is out that is what i do so it in neutral it works as a security device cause you cant get it out of park without the key for the gearbox

I thought about it, but i can't leave my car unattended in N, specially in NYC. I'm just going to call Honda and schedule an appointment or this guy who is a Honda specialist and see how much he wants to fix it.

I followed the instruction that accordaffair had posted and i believe i can do it, but i rather not risk it.

                    Again many thanks
