    leaking coolant

So the other day I am leaving for work, and see this huge green puddle under my car, fuck i think, another problem. I'm in a hurry so I get in and leave anyways, after like 5 mins I notice that the heater isnt blowing out hot air, which sucks cause it was cold. I also notice when accelerating the car gets a whistlein sound that gets higher with the RPMs, sounds almost like a turbo spooling. Then i notice the temp gauge is slightly higher than usual, then it gets even higher so i pull over and pour some more coolant in. The heater starts working again, heat goes back to normal, car doesnt whistle anymore. After i get off work i notice the same green puddle under my car, I look to see where its coming from, i see drips from the underside of the front of the car in the middle, like under the radiator. So i drive home, no problems. the car drips a little less, little less, eventually the car is only dripping a little bit everytime i drive, even if i fill up the coolant/water. But TODAY after I drive to school, i come outta class an notice a HUGE fuckin puddle under my car, f'in embarrasing. I start drivin home and notice the whine/whistle noise, my heater starts off hot but then blows out cold air, but the car doesnt overheat...i coulda just not drove it long enough who knows.

So wtf is going on, obviously i got a leak, what is that damn whistle/whine sound though? why dont the heater work...any ideas whats wrong?

I had the same problem, you have either a loose or corroded hose. Check all of them, every single one. That noise you heard is weird though, mine was the sound of water boiling, and I got steam coming out the hood. So yea check hoses and when you find the one then replace it, should only cost no more than like $5.

the noise could be steam comin outta something, like a teapot...thats actually a really good description of what it sounds like, a teapot. turbo spooling teapot.

I havent had time to get under the car and really check hoses with work and school...by time i get home its dark. I'll have to wait til this weekend.

No offense but if you see coolant leaking why would you drive it a couple more times and risk overheating. I'm sure you'll find the leak if you look hard enough.

        ...adjust accordingly

Check the heater hose right under the dizzy I kno that's the most common area that tends to go out on our cars after some years!

Check your radiator hoses, check your coolant hoses about the intake manifold and cylinder head, check your radiator condition for deterioration. Obviously you won't get hot air if you're having a coolant leak man, common sense.

Person above is right, you shouldn't drive your car and have your problem checked out by someone, since it seems like you don't know what to do.

i would suggest getting the vehicle's cooling systen pressure tested. That way you will see EXACTLY where the leak is coming from, and know what to do/replace.

IF you have a puddle it should be obvious where the leak is. I am still surprised you drove it.

puddle to one, might not be a puddle to another... I might see a small amount (size of a 1/2 dollar) and call it a few drops, and somebody else might call that a puddle...

one of my hoses busted the other day on me...it leaked all my antifreeze out and i got lucky because the car ran hot and i quickly turned it off. found out that the small u-shaped hose right under the injectors connected to some valve had gotten old and busted. got a new one and back to normal.
