    Axle popping out, HOW?

    ^^^^^^^^^
What the title says, happened to me just alittle while ago. I was driving and decided I wanted to drive alittle faster so I floored it, im accelrating and as I approach 60MPH the rpms rocket to redline as if im revving the car

I instantly knew it had something to with the axle, I was stranded in the middle of a busy road till my brother and cousin came to tug me back home ( I was a couple of blocks away at this point) and we just fixed it by popping the axle back it. I took it for a test drive just a couple of mins ago and hit 80 a couple of time w/o any problems.

So how does something like this happen? Just as alittle background, I have an H22 and just recently had one axle ( the one that popped out) swapped out for a Driveshaft shop axle thats the regular Honda Accord length about a month ago. Another question, if you can just pop the axle back in, is that just as fine as a fix as if I were to rip everything apart just to slide it back in?

Thanks for any feedback in advance guys, its really helpful

the axle (the end that goes into the tranny) should have a little C clip on it to make sure it stays in the transmission, make sure thats on there.

When you installed the axle, did you check if the snap ring was on?
Its the ring that goes on the end of the axle that goes into the transmission. And are you sure that you have the right axle in there?

Yea, i didn't install it, I let my coworker pop the sucker in and I was gonna help but figured I would just slow him down ( did it in 10 mins). I didn't even for one second think of that snap ring, I can't remeber anymore if there was one on there or not, i'll ask the tech tommorrow. And about ti being the right axle, it DEFINTELY IS,http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43597, that was a thread I started awhile back cause the damn shop that did my swap gave me an axle that was too long and finally got around to correcting it by buying the right sized axle. Thats why I ended up with a Drive shaft shop instead of a regular remanufactured one ( for those who are wondering)

Well I got a chance to take acloser look at what happened last night. The axle did have a snap ring on place.

Also, at the Very, very tip of the splines of the axle, it seems that the tip has been smoother downed perfectly. The tech that was helping me also noticed metal shavings in the tranny . Why did my axle pop out?, what else could it have been? What is a carrier bearing? The tech told me that I may need a new one and that may be why my axle popped out? Can anybody elaborate on this?

I'm thinking that those metal shavings came from the tips of the splines being grinded down?

All I know is that this has me concerned and just want to know as to why this happened. Could this have been some kind of freak acccident? ( has this happened to anybody else) or is there another explanation to this?
