    oil light flashing?

after driving for about 20 minutes my oil light starts to flash on and off. this never occured until i boosted the system, which leads me to think of two possible reasons: the oil is getting too hot, or oil pressure drops after driving for a while. if the oil is starting to boil over, buying and installing a oil cooler should do the trick right? but wat if it is the oil pressure declining? wat then?

there is NO reason you oil should be getting overheated. if it is, something is probably wrong (unless you are using the car in some kind of endurance race).

it could even just be a bad sensor, but oil is not something i would take chances on, figure it out ASAP.

sounds like you are just low on oil but i'll assume you left that out because you already checked the level and know for sure that you have the required amount

You boosted the car without an oil pressure gauge? Ouch!

Flashing means it has had a momentary drop in pressure NOT that it has lost all oil pressure (thats a solid light).

Put an oil pressure gauge in the car. It will tell the tale.

If your oil pump is worn, *and* the oil temp is getting too high, it could get too thin and you could lose some oil pressure.

It's a pressure light--you can have full oil level and still have pressure problems.

In you case tho it's prob. a faulty sensor. But until you change the sensor you won't know-or until you put an oil pressure gauge in.
