    starting problems

the car starts up fine and everything i just startd trying to get it used to being started and driven since it was off the road for a while

serviced fine all fluids good and all that jazz

but when i would actually start to drive it, it just gets to a certain point and shuts off completely

try to start it back up. starters working good, everythings turning over good. it just wont start. i give it a little time and it starts again, and the process starts all ovver

i was in my driveway a few minutes ago and had it started up and warming up. i reved it up a tiny bit and it was fine. did it again and the car just shut off then decided to not start up again. this looks fimiliar

its a 10th ae automatic f22, no mods bu i/h/e

anyone have any ideas at all???

i know its not overheating. i have new fans and since then the needle hasnt moved past halfway and engine heat is fine. im just..boggled

    edit::

i went ahead and repladcfed the fuel fileter since its been a long time since its been changed. wnet ahead and filled it up with high octane and some seafoam

the car would start for about 10 minutes

we checked in the fuel filter and on the fuel rail and the car wasnt getting fed any gas at all, the spark was fine and dandy though.

so we're like trying to think of what would cause the car not to get gas.

main relay and fuel pump are what im guessing. but doesnt the main realy go in correlation with working the fuel pump?? main relay is my next target now

and about the coil/igneiter thing.. would that have to do with this? idk if i should be worried about that

im just trying to get all the help i can get right now, thanks for the advice so far. who has advice for my next phase of troubleshooting??

then i went to my thrusday night bowling league

came home about a ahalf hour ago

cranked it once..nothing..twice. started right up

drove it up and down the road a few times. drove fine. turned it off and started it back up two tiems in a row to see if it would, and it did.

the main relay would cause it to function properly but after a little jst give out and then make you wait a little to start it again??

sorry im nt too educated on this stuff..in the learning process

my dad and i were talking and that same amount of gas was sitting in the tank for almost two years now. and as some of you know, the car wasnt driven at all, and has just recently been getting started up

so were were thinking the gas got stagnant and aquired condensation too from all those years of sitting, so maybe the gas is just shitty. we put red iso heet in it but i wanna top the tank off to maybe. we just thought maybe after it running, it got to a certain part of the gas where it was watered down and then cut off. then letting it sit for a little lets the gas settle and seperate again, which then lets the car start back up

does that make any sense or am i just making something up??

drain the gas and refill with high octane and some fuel treatment......

if nothing then its probably the main relay and/or alt.

did u disconnect the fuel line that comes from the fuel pump to the filter and turn the ignition to see if gas was coming out?!...or better yet, did u hear the fuel pump turn on?!

yeah we tried the line coming to the fuel filter after we tried from the rail to the filter

trying to work our way from the most accesable point..now we think its not under the hood

and im pretty sure i didnt hear the fuel pump turn on. only sound was really the starter

would the main relay cause the pump not to turn on?

                          BUMP for new info::

resoldered the main relay and it still did the same problem. got me to my bank, went through the drive through window. stalled in the parking lot. left it there for a few hours then came and got it, got me to my driveway and stalled.

i dropped the gas tank and im thinking since i have it down, im just gonna replace the fuel pump. im obviously rinsig and cleaing the tank too

but i still really need advice/help on this, anyone??

whats your idle speed? U get rid of that bad fuel? What does your car do at part throttle? Does it surge? U eliminated the ignition system right? What about the charging system? check your alt.. connections? U check you fuel system for vacuum leaks?

we checked for fuel supply before we checked for anything else. it wasnt getting to the engine so thats why we attacekd the relay, and now the pump

my alternator and connections are good though. new pulgs wires distributer cap and rotor blah blah

igniter and coil arent replaced though, i didnt know if those had anything to do with fuel supply, or if they were just spark.

my idle is really wierd. when i first start it up it goes up to at least 1500 for a little bit but once it gets warmed up it drops to somewhere in the 700 range, which is the correct idle...i think.
