According to my experience , you should tell them to check the alternator

Most likely your alternator isnt charging. Or that ouput plug the one that plugs in not the one thats bolted is not pushed in all the way. Mine used to pop out then i zip tied it. But if you go to autozone should take out the alternator and let them test it. Usually if they just test the battery they just load test it and doesnt tell you the condition of the alternator.

I know when I was having problems the guy at autozone said the cable running to the alternator would go out on ours cars after a period of time but sound like the alternator is gone to heaven I did have another one sitting around but I think I sold it!

I took it in and had them test it again and he said that everything was good on it. Alternator was real good. So im stumped. Ill check the cables or wires that go to it.

Sometimes it's as simple as adjusting the belt tension.

Test the charging system with the alt and battery still in your car and the car running with nothing on, then retest the system under load.

Does the counter shaft have anything to do with it? The guy at Auto Zone said that was real loose. and it was.

Ehh countershaft? The only countershaft deal I know is in the trans for the vss. He talkin bout the shaft inside the alternator? How loose are we talkin bout? So umm how did he test that? Unless you have maybe a bad bearing in the pulley? But that would make excessive noise eventually it would sieze up. Hmm pictures of what the guy was talkin bout?

Its the small belt by the timing belt but my dad said that had nothing to do with it.Todd is about to tear down the engine to do the head gasket again so maybe well figure it out then. He doesnt know why it is on either though.

Well worst case scenario the lil chip (forgot the name at this moment) inside the alternator is sending a bad signal. Does Todd have a volt meter? He can test if the alternator is charging the battery. Just hook the leads to the battery with the car on and it should read 13.5 or so. Another thing you can check are the grounds that can sometimes throw it off.

i once had this issue, and autozone tested my alt, which was fine. One possiablity is to check the harmonic balancer (crankpulley). The outer ring on mine was loose/slipping...nearly falling off. Check that if everything else is fine and you still have the problem.
