castrol gtx every 5000 miles. 3k is just a myth, they change every 10k in europe! i keep up on it though, i check the level every other tank of gas.

Valvoline 10w-30 for me. I change it every 3-4k. I don't know about letting it go much past there. I can definitely see a difference when I change the oil.
