i am getting the cam from a company that deals with my company. they are giving it to me at a good price I just didn't know if it was good to buy or not. why did your cam snap? did you drive the car hard or did it break for no reason? i don't want to put something in my car that will break so soon. my mechanic is putting in my water pump, belt, cam and cam gear for $400. everything is brand new never used, all the parts came from honda. also did you notice a power increase from idle to redline?

honestly though, the cam regrind was installed at the same with a host of other engine upgrades. So I can't give you a definitive answer on how much I gained in comparison to a stock set-up. I think the main reason it snapped was because it couldn't handle the increased output my f22 at the time. I had some forged pistons and rods put in along with an engine/fuel management upgrade... and a programmed 50 shot Zex kit to boot. It took me about 3 months to fully break in the motor before I could really test it out. After putting 1500 miles on it; it ran awesome, great power all the way to redline. Then at the end of the 6th month; I pushed the engine really hard along with the nitrous spraying away. It snapped at 6800 rpm (recorded on tach) on second gear. Why it ran great then all of a sudden snapped is a mystery to me. My gearheads tell me I was putting too much stress on it and it eventually gave way. Just keep this in mind 'regrinds' tend to make the original cam weaker; leaving you a greater chance of it snapping. All this really depends on the machinist(sp?) doing the regrind.
One other company to look at is JG Engine dynamics; I believe they can produce a custom f22 sohc cam (not a regrind). This one accord had it near where I lived before. He took me for ride in his car one day... that thing hauled.

thanks for answering. so it is a good thing to get the cam. they claim 25-30 whp. also they have 70mm throttle bodies. any good? i don't want to spend too much because i want a swap but i also can't stand b series motors walking on me. what would be the best upgrades? i can get a hook up on most parts for the f or h series motors so i can get alot more for the same price.

Looked at Delta camshaft website & it seems they take ur stock camshaft & do a performance regrind. So Lithium, you're saying these are good?
How many miles you have on your Delta regrind camshaft? And how much was it? Also, to what specs you have them regrind it to?
Thanks...I realize that's buggin for info, but I'd really appreciate it. I've been looking for a reputable company that provides performance cams for 4th gens.

Specs wise; I recommend you contact Delta and their tech advisor and tell them what exactly you need and your future plans so they can spec the regrind properly. I have an N/A set-up with a lot of internal work done; far from a stock set up. Remember; my cam was installed during my engine rebuild with a host of other internals (far from a stock set up). I had my cam reground to compliment my new internals; spec'd to deliver more top end power than middle to low. It's really up to you; you tell them what you want.

JG or Delta I believe are not only a little cheaper, but typically have better customer service than Gude has ever dreamed of. I've just heard stories about Gude. I do like JG though, I've had a lot of good dealings with them.

Lithium, I'd love to hear the exact specs of your Deltacam as well as the engine setup you are running...i.e: parts, who did the work, etc.RIP Lifsatrip7

Oh... I guess they are secret specs...
I'd love to know the results of your CAM DOCTOR spec sheet that came with the cam....
I might be tempted to call bullshit soon...it's a small world. 20k huh.... I remember you from SHO blackaccord...Last edited by ZigenBallZ; 10-03-2003, 12:43 PM.RIP Lifsatrip7

I forgot to tell you this but in researching Delta camshaft regrinds...they said they offer two profiles for our 4th gens
260 - basically for stock setup to improve throttle response
272 - performance grind, gets better with the more mods you have (header, intake, exhaust, higher compression, etc)
Now, if any of you Delta peeps have different profiles...please post it with the mods you have...or PM me if you wanna keep it on the DL

I disagree with that explanation of the Delta Grinds...
I'd say that the Delta 260 is still a pretty aggressive grind for a daily driver...and not for a stock setup at all.... IMO the 260 requires at the minimum bolt ons, I/H/E...
and the 272 is reaching the end of the streetable spectrum...
If someone wants a mild cam for a stock or pure bolt on type setup then I'd look into Web Cams.... stay on the milder side of the specs unless you are doing internal work soon and for sure...
It's all about the specs...lift, duration, lobe seperation.... and Delta's mildest cam regrind is still more aggressive than other companies most aggressive grind...
But I'm still dying to talk to Lith/blackAccord92...One should have exact specs and know everything about the parts one puts on their car...otherwise one might doubt the validity of such claims...
And I would suggest that if you really don't want to share your specs and help the 4thGen/CB community out then you should keep these things to yourself and not mention them.... because I saw no mention whatsoever on SHO of BlackAccord92 having a Delta cam...and that's why i am tempted to call bullshit...
you'd think that a few simple questions about the product that you're touting would be fairly easy to answer... I've shared everything about my Delta grind on AccordTuner just to help out other 4thGenners...
I'd at least like to know Lith's "custom" cam specs AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...how he came to decide on those specs...I'll let the parts list on the "built motor" go because I can tell if this Delta Cam thing is BS just by having a few simple questions answered that shouldn't be too hard if you have first hand experience...RIP Lifsatrip7
