CB back up and running! But mroe problems....

Well, I don't know if anyone remembers when I was a CB7T newb, I posted about an oil pressure sending unit leak, and also oil in the spark plug tubes. Valve cover gasket, right?

Well, that problem seems to have ballooned. When I get into the high RPMs, the exhaust shoots blue smoke and drips oil. I checked the coolant and there's no oil, so no blown headgasket, I think.

I guess the oil leak has gotten worse? Also, the idle time is like, 2-2500 RPM. I adjusted the little screw thingy to make it lower, but now the engine will sit and fluctuate, it'll go up to like 1500 and drops to 1000, and then go back up and drop again. This jumpy idle is annoying.

    Any ideas?

Also the alignment is totally fucked up. If I let go of the steering wheel the car shoots to the right side, the opposite side of where the busted control arm was. Oh well, I'll have to get the car aligned.

How many miles on your engine? Have you done a compression check? Leakdown test? These should give you an idea of what's going on. The Leakdown test will help you find where the oil is going/coming from. The Compression test will tell you if your rings are worn.

I'm fairly certain the valve cover gasket is shot, becuase I have oil in my spark plug tubes. I might change that tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time.

Engine has around 200k on it. But I was told it was a new engine. So the odometer says 200k but the engine may or may not have that. I don't really think it's a new engine though, I have no slip or proof that they ever did anything like that with it.

The real problem right now is the jumpy idling. It's a little embarressing to be sitting at a stop and the car's revving up and then dropping down on it's own.

Upon further inspection, the engine doesn't drop revcs until it hits 1500, and only when it's idling. When I'm on the gas it runs perfectly fine. When I'm sitting and idling, even in gear, when the revs hit 1500 it drops down to 1000, and goes up again, and then drops.

Could it be my fumbling with the TB screw? The rev was kinda high before and so I tried to turn the idling screw (after disconnecting the IAC thingy or whatever)_ and that's when it started doing this. I plugged everything back in.

TTT I'd really like some help here. I checked the intake manifold, and I couldn't hear or detect any leaks. None of this happened until after I messed with the TB screw. Did I set the idle too high? It only kicks back down to 1000 RPM when it reaches a hairline above 1500. I tried to put the TB screw back to where it was but it's still doing it.

          replace the wires, and plugs.

When my car was sounding like shit, I was running on one cylinder. yeah yikes. Oil was leaking from the spark plug gasket on the VC and yeah tons of oil got in there. I cleaned everything out replaced the plugs, and cleaned off wires, and all is good now. It smoked for a little but after driving it for a while it went away =)

Check the vaccum lines and get a new valve cover gasket kit.

my car does the idlein revin only when its cold and low on antifreeze. when i put antifreeze in it will stop. by the way i know i need a water pump and a timing belt but it runs good beside the water leak issue. about ur car tho i agree with maple check the vaccum lines.
cant wait till im all done

I did remove the cruise control, but I plugged that vacuum line.

The vacuum lines are what goes out of the TB and such, right? Where the vacuum hoses go from a CAI kit? They're open, as my cold air intake got stolen while my car was on the side of the road after the wreck - the hood wouldn't shut all the way, so it got stolen while it was sitting there for like, a week.

Valve cover gasket kit I'm getting in a few days, I'm not concerned about that. The erratic idle is my main issue right now.

I'll have to try getting new plugs and wires.

In my experience, if I have the idle screw adjusted too high (higher idle), it jumps around and does funky stuff. Try lowering your idle down to about 600-700 or so, and see if it stops. Mine did.

I think that's what it might be, becuase it was perfectly fine before I got the smart idea in my head to screw with it.

At least, I hope that's what it is. I can't think of anything else.

Gonna have to get a new valve cover gasket set before this oil leak turns bad.

What is the potential for disaster on my oil leaks?
